Eve and Tom decided to walk to the coffee place, which was a rather bad idea since their faces were being broadcast on every tabloid possible. They got recognised almost immediately, which led to what felt like a mob to form. Eve couldn't handle it, neither could Tom. With a swift move she'd leant over to him and whispered "I'll meet you at home later. I'm sorry", before disappearing into the mob.

Needless to say, they never made it to the coffee place.

It was hard for her to admit, but Eve knew that this whole thing could only end badly. She'd already lost someone she loved, and deep down she knew it would get worse. After a while of walking aimlessly, she'd hailed for a cab. As she sat curled up in the back of the cab, rain began to pour. As if on que, one of her favourite sad songs began to play on the radio; Bad Day by Daniel Powter. The music filled her mind with thoughts.

The lyrics began to slowly hit her as she watched the raindrops gently roll down the car window. It was a bad idea, where she was going. One line stood out to her in particular;

'Sometimes the system goes on the blink, and the whole thing it turns out wrong'

It stood out to her because it summed up her life rather accurately at that moment in time, and that really sucked. Before she knew it, tears were welling up in her eyes. She thought back, to the very last day of high school.

--FLASHBACK AGAIN--

It was a warm summers day. Of course every student in the school was watching as the clock slowly ticked towards the final school bell. The last school bell they'd ever hear. Eve looked across to Tom, he was looking at her with a broad smile across his face. They were just minutes away from starting a life together, seeing as they were going straight from school to their new home for the very first time. They'd been together for 6 years by now, and they'd been waiting for the day they could move in together for what felt like forever.

Her sweet smile filled his heart with joy, his broad smile filled her heart with happiness.

Life had never seemed so exciting.

---END OF FLASHBACK---

As Eve faded back into reality, her taxi was slowly rolling to a stop. Her whole body was cold as she stepped quickly across the rain soaked sidewalk to the entrance of the old apartment building. She remembered the address exactly, apartment 49 on the 7th floor.

Her legs felt weaker with every step she took as she left the elevator. The hallway she was walking along felt too long, yet before she knew it she was standing outside the door of apartment 49.

Eve slowly reached up and knocked, three times. A click was heard, the door swung open.

"Hello again Eve" the past stranger spoke as her eyes saw who was standing before her. Without another word she stepped to the side and nodded her head, letting Eve enter the scarily familiar apartment.
