The sun shining harshly through the cracks in the curtains awoke the sleeping couple. Their eyes, raw red from all the crying. It had been a tough night, for both of them, yet they were scared of what the morning would bring.Eve was the first to get up, Tom was still asleep when she did get up. Her footsteps slapped against the kitchen floor as she went to climb onto the counter by the window. She managed to clamber up and sit down.
The sun shone through the city streets. She watched as people down below wove through each other on their ways to work. Everything seemed to just fit into place so perfectly. It saddened her, the fear of what happens next and the ghosts of Jude's words. She could've ruined everything for Tom, the man she loves.
It brought her back to high school in a strange sense. When they first got together, everyone decided to get involved. The stuck-up popular chicks said he could do better, they insulted her, called her a lesbian for no apparent reason, some even tried to steal him from her. Even his own sister hated her when they first got together. But, what felt like against all odds, they made it. They made it all through high school. They made it, despite what others were thinking. Who's to say that won't happen again?

Meanwhile, just across town, Zoe's pale skin was tingling as she lay in the hot bath. So many thoughts were rushing through her, all of last night. Her apartment seemed to be plagued with reminders of her and Eve's friendship; framed pictures, random doodles, gifts, even ghosts of their laughter. Zoe slowly turned to the mirror next to her, memories filling her mind.
—Flashback thingy—
"Zoeeee" Eve cried from the bathroom, attempting to adjust her hair in the mirror as she did. Zoe stumbled in, giggling her ass off. This caused Eve to start giggling too, the smell of champagne on her breath filling her nostrils. "Evaaaaaa" Zoe replied as she leant against the door. They just couldn't stop giggling. "I loveeeeee youuuuu" Eve said, dragging out every word. "I loveeeee youuu toooooo" Zoe replied doing the same.
—end of flashback thingy—
Without noticing, tears began to slip down Zoe's cheeks. Why? That was the only question she could think of. Why would this happen? How could this happen?
It broke her with every minute that passed. When she'd woke up, her first thought was to text Eve. It dawned on her that she couldn't, they weren't the same anymore. Her daily routine had suddenly somehow changed.

Back across town, Tom was slowly waking up to the smell of bacon. Eve was cooking breakfast. He lay there in bed for a while, just staring at the ceiling. What was he going to do today? He was sure he has thousands of missed calls and texts. Instead of reaching to check his phone, he swung himself out of bed.
Things almost seemed scarily normal as he entered the kitchen. He saw Eve, just making breakfast. To anyone who didn't know what happened last night, and he was sure by now everyone knew, it just seemed like a normal morning for a normal couple.
That was the problem, they weren't a normal couple. What started out as a joke, as something small, just grew too rapidly out of hand.
Why did he let that happen?
She noticed his presence as she turned to go into the living room, nodding her head as a way of beckoning him to join her. He followed her and sat beside her on the couch.
He turned to the TV, when he noticed she'd put their favourite cartoon on. "Teen Titans?" He questioned. She just looked to him and smiled a broken smile, "the news is too depressing".
He knew exactly what she meant by that, he just nodded in agreement as they both sat in silence eating, watching the colourful characters on the screen.Everyone was collectively wondering what this day could bring; Zoe, Eve, Tom. Even Jude was wondering it too. To some it was a scary thought, to others it could mean big things. Yet, none of them could tell the future, and as the sun slowly rose and more people across the city began to wake, the day begun.
