He hated him, he hated him more than he hated the upside down. But what was he meant to do when he turned up on his door step at two in the morning crying with nowhere else to go. Steve may have hated him, but he wasn't going to let the boy freeze, he wasn't going to let the boy starve. No, he was going to let the boy come in and he was going to cook the boy some food and he was going to let the boy sleep while he made sure he would be there for the boy he hated the most. Billy Hargrove.

Flashback 2 days

Steve knew people were staring, how could he not notice. He was more surprised when people didn't look at him. Ever since that night, the night Steve really hates talking about, he wasn't slept nor has he ever talked to anyone about it. How could he, his parents weren't here to understand, Nancy had Jonathan the only people he really had anymore was the kids, he hated to admit how much he loved and cared for those kids but he couldn't go to them with his problems, they already had enough of their own and Steve couldn't add to those. So he dealt with his nightmares alone.

"Pretty boy" a voice came from behind him as he walked down the corridor of school, of course Steve knew straight away who the person was behind the voice, only one person would ever call him that, pretty.

"What do you want Hargrove" Steve said as he stopped in his tracks and turned around, facing the idiot. His hair was a mess, but clearly a mess that would've took Billy nearly an hour to perfectly structure, his top was half open with only a few buttons down showing his bare chest that Steve tried not to look at.

"Jeez Harrington you look like shit"

"I already know that dipshit" Steve snapped back. His day had already started off shit, barely an hour of sleep from the nightmares he endured every single night. Steve wished, practically begged actually, for the nightmares to go but without a fail every night he woke up with a sweat on his neck and breathless.

"What crawled up your arse this morning princess?" Billy questioned as he followed Steve, who at this point had given up talked to Billy and continued his walk to his locker.

"Fuck off billy" Steve said as he opened his locker getting out the book he needed. This obviously had no effect on Billy as he just lent against the locker next to Steve's.

"Only wanted to talk princess" Billy said still leaning against the locker next to him.

"Well go find someone who actually wants to talk to you then Hargrove" Steve practically shouted, making a few heads turn to see the commotion, Steve shut his locker and walked off to his first lesson leaving Billy alone leaning against the locker with a smirk on his face.

The day didn't get any better for Steve, if anything it got worse, a lot worse. At lunch Steve sat down with Nancy and Jonathan which usually wouldn't be his first choice of company but recently he didn't have a lot of choice. Anywhere away from Billy was a plus for Steve.

"Steve?" Nancy asked with concern as she looked Steve up and down. She even slightly moved her body away from Jonathan, it wasn't as awkward between the three of them anymore, but it wasn't always pleasant for Steve to watch either.

"What?" Steve snapped slightly. His temper was short today.

"What's wrong Steve?" Nancy asked while moving her hand to brush Steve's wild hair away from his face.

"Nothing Nance, I'm fine I just need some sleep that's all" Steve said with a smile. He looked down at his food and pushed it around not really feeling like eating. He finally looked up and past Nancy and Jonathan's face looking around the cafeteria, immediately regretting his decision as his eyes locked with Hargrove's. The smirk on Billy's face made it obvious that he was waiting for Steve to look up at him.

Steve quickly put his head back down staring at his food once again. He wasn't going to eat it, but he really didn't want to look up and meet Hargrove's eyes again so instead he picked staring at the food.

As soon as he knew he needed to get to his next lesson, Steve got up ignoring Nancy's questions about where he was going, he made a beeline for the bin, put his food in and went back to his locker. He got his books and walked to his lesson and sat down. Just as he sat down the one and only Billy Hargrove walked in and took his seat behind Steve.

The lesson went on without any problems which was strange. Right until the very end when a note was slipped onto his desk.
