The Letter.

Red.

Red was the colour of the perfectly shaped "s" and "c" stamped into the dark seal of the envelope.

White.

White was the colour of the clean paper that seemed to gleam with apprehension.

And black.

The tragic black ink, scrawled along the page, that read my future.

I had waited six years to finally know who I am. My mother was supernatural before she passed, and my father is supernatural but I never got the chance to meet him as he left for battle when I was young and didn't return. My mother and aunt believe he's dead, that he obviously didn't survive the battle but the telegram said missing in action, not killed.

I've always known I wasn't human. I was always an outcast. Too smart or too sporty, either way I was different. And this letter, the letter proving I'm superhuman and can go to the school my mother went to, confirms my suspicions.

The letter read:

Dear Miss Marshall,

I, professor Watson, am writing to congratulate and inform you of your acceptance at silver crescents boarding school. Here at Silver Crescent, we have noticed your supernatural ability and invite you to join our school this semester.

As you probably know, being a superhuman is a gift but sadly are gift needs to stay hidden so we request you keep all knowledge of our school hidden from mortals. If you seize to complete that task, you shall be punished severely.

Once again, welcome to Silver Crescents and we hope to see you soon.

Sincerely,

Professor Watson.

I read the letter over and over searching for any signs that screamed this was fake, however, none occurred. A big ball of nerves exploded in my stomach and I let out a shaky laugh of satisfaction.

"What you got there, kiddo?"Asked Aunt Lisa as she waltzed into the kitchen, chewing her gum.

"A-a l-letter." I stumbled out trying to gain composure.

"A letter? From who?" She pestered, walking around the counter and taking the letter from my shaky hands.

After seconds passed and Lisa read the letter, she let out a scream of joy. " I knew it!" She howled, making me frown "I knew it, I knew you would get in!" I gently shook my head trying to clear the confusion and focus.

" You knew about me?"

"Of course I knew, I could sense it"

" sense it?" I repeated more like a question.

"Yeah, sense it. All supernaturals can sense other supernaturals it a perk of our powers."

I didn't know that, I thought to myself.

" so speaking of powers, what is yours?"

"My power?"

"Yeah, what's your weird habit? What chose you?"

"I-I d-don't know"

Lisa's face dropped immediately, "You don't know? Why would you be enrolling if you didn't know?"

"I don't know. They chose me, I didn't apply."

She gave a small shrug and handed me the letter back,"Maybe they see potential. I'm sure your not the first newbie who is unclaimed by a power."

A small light of hope ignited again and lisa said those words, maybe they see potential.

Oh, how I hope so.

I hadn't longed for anything as much as this. A chance to be a great warrior like my Dad or a terrific professor like my mother, either were great expectations to live up to and I intended to do that, to make them proud.

"So, what's for dinner?" Lisa asked.
