It was on the first of June 2018-Sadie's sixth birthday-that she received the present that would change her life. A gift from her grandmother, Rosemary.Sadie sat on the floor of the living room in her house with her grandmother and her parents Steven and Patricia.
"Go ahead. Open it." Said Grandma Rosie-that's what Sadie called her grandmother.
Sadie peeled the tape off the lavender coloured wrapping paper; Sadie's favourite colour. She continued to unwrap the present gently. Sadie liked to keep the wrapping paper afterwards, so she tried her best to avoid tearing it.
Inside was a knitted blanket. It was dark grey with a red border around the edge. There was even a little hooded bit for her to put it over her head, so she could wrap herself in it completely.
"Happy birthday, Sadie." Said Grandma Rosie.
