"And you're sure this is absolutely necessary?" Malia asked.
"If you want to move up next year? Yes." The Principal said.
"I can just study more." Malia said.
"Even so, you won't be able to raise your grade from a D to at least a B in three months without help.
And extracariculars look good on college applications." He explained.
"I'll think about it, I guess..." Malia said sadly and stood up.
"Be sure that you do." He said.
"Thanks, Principal Collins." Malia said and left the man's office.
Just outside, Scott and Isaac were pretending not to listen.
"Don't bother, I know you were eavesdropping. Where's the other one. The dick?" Malia asked.
"If you mean Theo, he's in the library." Scott laughed. Malia smiled too.
"So what are you gonna do? You gonna sign up for something?"
Isaac asked.
"Well...I guess so. The only other option is to be held back and embarrassed." Malia said.
"Good at sports?" Scott asked.
"Good at? Yes. Like Sports? No."
Malia said. Just then Lydia and her clique bumped into her.
"Excuse you." Lydia said rudely.
"Sorry." Malia said with a cocked eyebrow. "What's that?"
"Flyers for the first ever Lacrosse Cheer Squad. The Vespers.
All are welcomed to participate.
There's no chance in hell you'll actually get in but you can try.
Sign up sheet's posted outside the Nurse's office. Good luck." With a smile, Lydia and company left.
Scott and Isaac both looked at her.
"No. Absolutely not." Malia said.
"But it'd be perfect! We're all on Lacrosse together and if you join the cheerleading squad, we'll all be together." Scott said excitedly.
"You're forgetting the part where I'll be prancing around like an idiot.
In a skirt. In front of people!"
Malia stressed. "Does that sound like something I would do?"
"What's the problem?" Liam asked.
"We're trying to convince her to join Lydia's Lacrosse cheerleading thing." Isaac explained.
"You should totally do it." Liam said.
"Who's side are you on?!" Malia demanded as they walked on.
"The side that gets me the hook up with Hayden Romero." Liam said.
"Isn't she on the soccer team?"
Malia asked.
"Your point being?" Liam asked.
"Think about it this way; Do it for the irony. You get to mock their whole practice. And like said, you're not going to get in anyway, so what's the harm?" Isaac asked rhetorically.
"It would be fun to see her smug, condescending face when I actually show up...Fine. I'll give it a shot." Malia said. Liam kissed her cheek.
"Great! Here's a pen." Isaac said handing it to her as the stood in front of the nurse's station. She took the pen and signed. Rolling her eyes.
"I hate you all. Oh well. That's it.
Wednesday I try out for Cheerleading."
