"Are you ready?" Taylor says as she leans against the entrance of my door.
"I don't think I'll ever be ready for this." I sigh as I adjust my black dress.
Taylor sighs as she walks over to me. She fixs a strand of my hair and turns me around. She gives me a tight embrace and sheds a few tears. We pull away and walk downstairs.
Ethan gets up off of the couch and comes over to me. He holds me in his arms as I let a few tears escape my eyes.
"It's going to be okay." He whispers as he rubs my back.
We pull away and he lightly pecks my lips.
"Okay it's time to go." My mom says as she grabs her keys.
I grab my keys and walk out of the door. I get into the driverseat and put the keys in the ignition. Ethan gets into the passenger seat and places his hand over mine. He gives it a tight squeeze before we drive off.
After what seemed like ages we finally arrived to the funeral home. I put the car in park and stare off into the distance. Without even knowing, I let a few tears escape my eyes. I catch myself and quickly wipe them away. Ethan gets out of the car and comes over to my side. He takes my hand and lifts me out of the car.
As we walk up to the doors, Ethan wraps his arm tightly around my waist holding me close.
We walk into the doors and the smell of fresh and dying flowers surrounds me. There is a long line ahead of us to see her. Soon the line gets shorter and shorter. We are about two people away from seeing her.
As we near our last steps I take a deep breath. Me and Ethan slowly walk up to her casket. My legs are weak and shakey. I grip onto Ethan for support and he holds me even tighter.
We arrive at the casket and I see her cold lifeless body laying there peacefully. Her hands crossed on her chest. Her long brown hair framing her face. And flowers surrounding her body.
I gasp as I look at her. I go to touch her hand but immediately regret it. She feels like a rubber doll that will brake at any point of me touching her.
I let out a weep but keep it together. I stroke her face and lean down to kiss her forehead.
"I love you tía. I'll be with you soon." I whisper as I let the tears now stream down my face.
Me and Ethan move a long and I am now a water fall. Tears streaming down my face and neck. Ethan rubs my back and hand. We take the seats in the front row that were reserved for us. I look at everyone saying their goodbyes and out of no where I lose it.
"I WANT HER BACK! THIS CAN'T BE IT! MY TÍA CAN'T BE DEAD!" I scream as I break down in screams and cries. I lean over and bury my face into Ethan's chest. I try to conceal my cries as Ethan tries to calm me down. I hear more people crying and weeping now.
After about five minutes I pull myself back together and wait for everything to start. The priest soon comes up to the podium. He starts the prayers and everyone recites them. After a long time of saying blessings and prayers the priest stops.
"At this time we are going to let a few people say some things about Rosa Martinez."
My dads brother, my cousin, my mom, and me all get up to go speak.
