"And what is a beautiful lady like yourself doing outside in the cold by your lonesome ." A semi familiar voice speaks from behind me. I turn around and see the blond witch I have vaguely come to know.
"Just waiting for my date so he can apologize for standing me up." I shrug with a smile, he chuckles slightly and offers his arm to walk into the restaurant.
"A date you say? I recall inviting two people so I'm not sure it classifies as that. I am honored and pleased by it though." Kaleb smirks, something that would usually cause me to retreat to my memories but decide to let loose for one night.
"Don't get ahead of yourself there blondy. Davina was busy leaving just us making it seem like a date." He pulls out a seat for me to sit and sits on the other himself.
"sounds like a horrid excuse, but I guess I am content. I am after all on a date with the better version of an angel." We wait for our waiter to come out conversation and flirting drowning any chance of silence.
"That is not a fitting description for myself, though it is charming. You would be as well but it seems you've forgotten not only did you spill coffee all over me but you also stood me up for the same thing you spilled over me."
"Yes, not my proudest moment. What can I say, I was desperate to get to know the intriguing girl from the record shop."
"And yet that is still not an apology" I smile pretending to look confused.
"Well then Vera Spears I apologize for standing you up, but I will not apologize for meeting you. It is after all the reason I are sitting here with the most beautiful view in front of me. " Kaleb rests his elbows on the table and leans closer to me.
"So I'm just a pretty face now?" I raise an eyebrow playfully and copy his previous action by leaning closer.
"I'm hurt you would think so low of me Vera! Though I must admit it's quite the bonus." He puts a hand to his chest in mock hurt.
I stifle a laugh not being able to hold up a serious face anymore "my god do you not know how to have a conversation without flirting."
"I am not flirting! Simply speaking the truth."
"You can't even say your not a flirt without flirting" I point out laughing.
From beside me my phone begins to ring and I see Davina's face pop up on the caller I.D
"Hello?" I ask accepting the call and excusing my self from Kaleb
"Hey how's the date going?" Her voice rings from the other side
"It's fine, feeling a little wrong not seeing Kol but..." I begin to explain from outside the restaurant before getting interrupted by her.
"Cool, but just so you know the Mikealsons know about the dagger." Davina tells me quickly , most likely extremely nervous.
"What?! Do we need to find a new location ? I can make us a room protected by a spell by my coven. Or better yet maybe find a cabin in the bayou." I suggest brainstorming our next step, completely abandoning the thought of what I was previously doing.
"It's fine I have a cabin, but they don't know your in on it." My mind races off to do more calculations, make more plans, think and think of ways to execute strategies. I have shifted from my self to who I've become. A machine.
"So I have to spy?" My voice sounds sure and ready to do whatever I need but my mind thought different. Was I ready to be around the people who did betrayed him? Was I ready to be around the family that betrayed me?
"That's up to you, it would be a great help of course but I don't want to pressure you into it. If anything it just puts you out of danger." Davina tells me as the other side gets more static and I hear panting.
"Hey D you okay?" I scrunch my brows worried over what was happening
"Yeah I'm fine stay where you are but keep an eye out." I nod to myself then verbally agree as she can't see me and walk back inside where Kaleb is now sipping a drink and has one placed in front of him.
"The bartender didn't want to give me the drink, they didn't believe we were old enough." Kaleb tells me chuckling as I sit back down across from him.
"Well no doubt I am way over the minimum drinking age, you on the other hand I don't know about." I laugh along side him taking my first sip of the fruity drink.
"Don't worry dear, our age difference may be vast but I am no child either." He smiles watching me also taking his first sip
My eyes widen once I take in the taste of what I was sipping, a sound of delight escaping my lips. "This is wonderful, what is it." The drink registers in my mind as very similar to something a certain older vampire used to make me. It was my favorite but I had sadly not had one since the night that changed it all. Yet what I was currently sipping on tasted a bit different somehow making it better.
"Glad you like it, but unfortunately I cannot say." Kaleb replies smiling bright as his blue eyes sparkle along.
"Then how would I even get the pleasure of sipping on such a delight again?" My slight lip pout suggests playful begging using the compliment as a form of persuasion I've perfected.
"I see what you're doing, but it won't work. Guess if you want more you'll just have to stick with me." He sends a wink my way causing me to laugh.
Unfortunately the playful atmosphere didn't stay as I hoped it would when a loud bang is heard followed by the breaking of windows. I drop my drink and got up fangs out and magic ready.
