Today was the worst day of my life and it was all Selena's fault.

I could blame myself, in fact, it kind of is my fault but it's not like I exactly lied. I might have not known who my parents were, that's very plausible. I could've figured out at some point that Dr. Prescott was my mom but the thing is, I've known since I was born who my mother was. That doesn't mean I was necessarily happy about it though.

The first couple hours of the worst day of my life were pretty normal. I woke up, ate breakfast with my friends and went to morning classes. For a while now, Selena has persistently teased me everyday since that fateful conversation about who my parents might be. I always thought that she was just trying to get under my skin, which she was succeeding in. But today, Selena hadn't said anything to me so far. It was kind of making me nervous.

"First you complain about her bugging you and now you're worried because she's not bugging you enough?" Raven asked, laughing at me a little. "You're crazy Malls." But I wasn't crazy. I could tell she was plotting something. Before my third class, I was stopped in the hallway by Dr. Alvarez and I knew that I would be taken out of class today and sent to the lab. For the past couple of months, my mother has slowly been pulling me out of classes and forcing me to work with WICKED lab assistants and Doctors, I thought that a lot of the other kids were getting the same treatment but according to Thomas and all my other friends, they weren't.

"Those WICKED higher ups must really like you." Minho had said jokingly one day.

"Well I was the first one so of course they'd like me more." I said, trying to sound sarcastic as I did.

"It's weird that they don't want you to learn with us anymore though." Silla said, thinking hard about this turn of events.

"Maybe Mallory's important." Ashoka suggested in her squeaky six year old voice. I smiled a little.

"I doubt it. I think you're the most important kid here." I said, poking her stomach. Ashoka had giggled and even though I asked my mom and any other WICKED personal  I encountered, none of them offered me any reason as to why I was being singled out to help WICKED with their projects.

So instead of putting up a fight when I saw Dr. Alvarez this morning, I simply followed them down the hallway to one of the laboratories and immediately got to work with the other assistants. It didn't really bother me that I was being assigned these tasks, I just wanted to know why. I would find out in a few hours the purpose of my exclusion though.

I arrived late to gym class, jogging in with my blonde hair tied in a ponytail and my signature gray shirt and looks shorts that WICKED had provided for every kid. The class was already well underway and Alby and Newt were currently wrestling things out on the mat floor. I made my way to Sonya and Raven as I entered the room and they gave me a funny look. "You're really late." I shrugged.

"Dr. Munoz was having me look at some really interesting animals they've managed to clone. They wanted my help with some of the gene coding because they can't get it right to where the animal..." I stopped because I could tell they weren't really interested in why I was late, something else was bothering them. "What?"

"There's a rumor going around that you've been pulled from the program." Sonya said.

"The program?" I questioned.

"Yes, this program, whatever the hell were going through. Whatever the hell were training for, that program." Raven said with a frown etched deep into her face.
