The rest of the weekend flew by. I spent the entire Sunday napping and binging episodes of old sitcoms. It was truly a daze. I thought about calling Felix again, just because I wasn't doing anything else, but it was too soon. I don't need help that often.
Today, was the day of Elias' event. He was having a meeting with only twenty people, but he took the time and resources to rent out the entire facility. Everything in the room had been double checked by me. The tables set up in a U Shape and the glasses were hand polished by me. I needed the day to be perfect, no hiccups, no embarrassment, nothing. I had vacuumed the room twice, just to be sure. It was early, but I slept here last night, so I didn't have to worry about being late or forgetting something at the last minute.
I greeted the men who were arriving, waiting to see him. I just wanted to look at his eyes again. They truly were hypnotic.
"Clara!" A man's voice called out
I turned to see Joseph, from the bar. He came running at me and gave me a half way side hug.
"When I found out we were having a meeting here, I got pretty excited! I was like, I know those people. It was strange, because our new building has it's own meeting rooms, but its nice to get out of there for a couple of days. Do you know where Lorin might be? I just want to say hello." Joseph rambled. He had the same energy level as Lorin, how perfect.
"She is in the back office, just go through those back doors and she should be at her desk in the room to the left." I replied
It was odd they were coming here, at least to Joseph. He said that their new building had their own meeting space, so what could they need here that their new building doesn't already have. A thought came over me, maybe he came here for me. There was obviously something going through his head yesterday. I felt it, he wanted more information about something. I would confront him.
The meeting day went on and on, but he never showed up. I didn't see him, I didn't hear him. The only part of him that existed in this ballroom were the signs that read 'Holt Enterprises' directing attendees to the correct room. There was still another day of this conference, maybe he would be here tomorrow.
At the end of the day, while the servers were cleaning up, Lorin and I were talking about how to schedule so and so and what we should put on the checklists for tomorrow and who should order more linen.
"So, have you seen Felix again?" Lorin asked out of nowhere.
"No, I've thought about it, but neither of us are interested in anything right now. Just to, uh, help each other out if needed." I chuckled
"Well, well, well, look who it is. Badass Clara, getting her rocks off at her own convenience."
"Very funny, I've had my own ways too, I just don't discuss these things at work!" I laughed. "By the way, the meeting is supposed to be smaller tomorrow, and they requested a manager be in house, so take the day off. I called off all the servers as well. I have some office cleaning I want to get done anyways."
"Really? Are you sure? That would be nice, I was thinking about contacting Joseph again, to relieve some stress. He looked good in there today, I was checking on them more frequently than normal."
"Trust me, I noticed."
