Violetta Crane was sure of three things when she was in high school.
She had an unhealthy obsession with chicken nuggets. There was no doubt that the poultry was amazing to Violetta.
She wanted to move as far away from Illinois as she could. The state was not only extremely bipolar with weather, but also, it was home to her family.
And finally, she despised the popular girls. There was one girl in particular that did Violetta wrong. Natalia Watson was a skinny girl with a snobby attitude and high pitched voice. She was a preppy cheerleader that came from a family with excessive amounts of money, and she made sure everyone knew that. Natalia didn't like competition either, so when it came to her attention that Violetta Crane was extremely wealthy, she wasn't happy. From that moment on, she was sure to make Violetta's life terrible.
Everything else to the Crane girl was a foggy blur. She didn't know what she wanted to do with her life, and that ruined her high school experience. Violetta spent her days trying to impress her absent father with hopes to get just a bit of guidance for the future. She stayed at home, her nose deep within a book. She never went to parties, and dating wasn't even in her mind.
Violetta would have never imagined herself sleeping with another person. That was changed when she boarded the flight from Iowa to Seattle.
Violetta was in Illinois gathering the last of her belongings after she graduated from med school. She boarded a flight from a small airport in her home state, but it was forced to land in Iowa when an unexpected storm arose. Typical Midwest. After a day of wandering around Iowa waiting for a flight, the Crane girl was on her way to the rainy state of Washington.
It was on that plane that Violetta met a flirty, attractive man from Iowa. He gave her a couple sweet pickup lines, and she was head over heels in love with him. Violetta had never been spoken to like that from a guy, so she didn't know how to react. She simply felt flattered and went along with his flirty mood. After the flight, they went straight to Violetta's hotel where they spent the night together.
The man had left abruptly before the girl had woken up, and frankly, Violetta couldn't even recall his name. She was amused with herself for letting the man get to her like that, but she just moved on with her life like it didn't even happen. After all, she had just moved and was starting a new job.
Sex was never something Violetta thought or worried about. She just figured that it would happen when it happened, but when Edward Hudson came into the picture, her thoughts changed. His actions broke her and completely altered her beliefs. She told herself she'd never trust a man again.
But Jackson Avery was different. He was there for Violetta, and believed every word she said. He didn't blame her for destroying the career of the strongest surgeon in Mercy West Medical Center. If anything, he was happy the Chief of Surgery was gone. Jackson was good to Violetta, and he was the only real friend she had. They moved into a small, two bedroom apartment together in order to save a bit of money.
Everyone knew that the two were attached at the hip. Mess with one of them, and you got the wrath of both. They were inseparable. . . And still are.
"What's for dinner, Etta?" Jackson Avery questions, coming into the kitchen with a PlayStation controller in hand.
"Chicken nuggets. They're the only thing I can cook."
"Is it considered cooking if it's made in a microwave?" Jackson jokes, leaning against the laminate counter top.
Violetta shrugs, pressing the button to open the microwave. The smell of chicken floods into the small kitchen.
"How are you feeling?" The Avery boy asks, grabbing a piece of pre-cooked chicken and taking a bite out of it.
"I don't know. I'm kind of tempted to skip work tomorrow and hide out in my bed. I really don't care to see anyone."
Jackson scoffs, "Not even my smiling face?"
"I hate to break it to you," Violetta laughs, "but seeing that first thing in the morning is terrifying."
The male rolls his eyes, and the pair fall into laughter. The roommates' banter is completely normal. At the hospital they are often misunderstood to be fighting or even sometimes in a romantic relationship, but the pair doesn't care.
"What about a game night?" Jackson suggests, taking another chicken nugget from the plate Violetta placed on the edge of the counter.
"You're on," the girl smiles, but her mind is on only one thing:
The merger.

Once again, it's extremely short. It will be until I can finally get the story rolling when they get to the hospital!
How do you feel about the relationship between Jackson and Violetta?
What specialty do you think Violetta will focus on?
Ask me any question you'd like to known!
Love y'all!
