There is a time in any sports game when all of the players realize it's now or never. It is that last inning of the baseball game when the score is tied. It is that fighting inning that determines which team comes out as the winner.

Violetta Crane is not letting herself fail. She will not lose.

"I'm not going to lie," Jackson Avery states, his hands locked on the steering wheel of his small car. "I'm terrified."

"At least Reid isn't pestering you," Violetta laughs, resting her feet on the dash.

"You can't let her bother you, Etta"

Violetta smirks, "And you cant let those Seattle Grace goons bother you. We need to go in there and fight hard. They won't know what hit them. It will be a total takedown."

Jackson pulls into the parking lot of the hospital. Not many people are there, and Violetta can instantly identify the car April and Reid come in. It is a rusty purple car that looks as though it had been around for years.

"Well," Jackson breathes, opening his door. "Let's do this."

———

"What are these scrubs?" April Kepner questions with a scowl across her face.

"We're going to stand out like sore thumbs," Violetta groans, holding the door of the resident lounge wide open for her coworkers to enter the room.

Reid pushes past the Crane girl abruptly, rolling her eyes. "Sticking out doesn't seem like something you'd have a problem with."

Violetta lets her comment slide as the group of residents file into the lounge. They quickly dress, putting their clothes into open cubbies. Soon, just as Violetta selects a cubby, the Seattle Grace residents pile in.

"Oh, hey. You can't put that in there," a sharp voice comes. A beautiful girl in blue scrubs is the source of the voice. Her hair is cut short, and her blue eyes are piercing.

"Oh," Violetta states, grabbing her clothes. "They told us to grab a cubby."

The girl speaks again, "Yeah, I know. It's just—we keep it empty for a reason."

Violetta nods with a small smile, putting the last of her stuff in her arms. If something means so much to the girl that she steps in, it has to be important. As soon as the last of Violetta's stuff is out of the locker, Reid's clothes are thrown in.

"Hey, can you take your stuff out? There are some empty ones over there you can use," the blonde questions, motioning to the empty cubbies.

"Reid, just take it out. There are plenty of other cubbies," Violetta mumbles to the red head.

"No!" Reid argues. "This blondie doesn't scare me! She's crazy about as crazy as you."

"Oh, you want to fight?" The blonde questions, standing up tall before Reid. Violetta wants to back away, but considering the first fight of the merger involves Reid, she can't help but want to step in.

Before long, the blonde—who is called Izzie—is pulled away from Reid by a man. As she leaves, the Crane girl can't help but feel her heart sink into her chest. The Adamson girl wasn't going to get karma flying back into her face. . . At least not yet.

The red head mumbles insults under her breath as she tosses her shirt into the now occupied cubby. Violetta is sparked with a raging anger.

"You know, you need to back off, Adamson," she snaps, putting her clothes into an open cubby. She can hear Jackson's pleas for her to step away in the background.

"Excuse me?" The girl questions, obviously looking for a fight.

"You act like you're some superstar and everyone should bow down to you because you have confidence. I think that's crap! You aren't confident! You're just a snobby wannabe. You're over here talking about me standing out, but I think that's you. You're the sore thumb here because no one likes you. Did you ever stop and think that the attendings dislike how you treat people? Huh? Just back off of everyone. . . Especially the Seattle Grace Goons. This is their turf."

With that, Violetta storms out, grabbing Jackson by his red scrubs violently. They go to the nurse's station on the surgery floor. Jackson holds tightly on to Violetta's hand as she takes deep breaths to calm herself. She can feel her asthma creeping up on her as her anxiety levels increase, and she had left her inhaler at home feeling sure she didn't need it.

"Etta, you actually stood up to Reid!" Jackson exclaims

Violetta smiles, but it instantly falls. "More than likely I'll be 'sleeping with the SGGs' by the end of be day."

"SGGs?"

"Seattle Grace Goons."

Once again, this is shorter than I'd like, but school has been overwhelming!

Anyway, thanks for reading!

What do you think of this chapter?

How'd you feel about Violetta standing up for Izzie. . . And herself?

Love y'all!
