Chapter Six

Ariel

Once she had calmed down, Ariel immediately realized the position she was in. She was in the lap of her rescuer, sitting in his lap with his arms around her. How did she get in this position?

"Umm can you let me go?" She wiggled, attempting to rid herself of his hold. In the process she managed to jar her wounded back. A sharp pain hit her forcing a gasp from her lips. With all that had been going on, she had forgotten about the two new wounds on her back.

He complied with her order and allowed her to move to sit a safe distance away from him.

However the separation didn't last long.

He was reaching for her, attempting to see her back.

She pushed his hands away.

"I'll be fine stop your mothering."

He gave her a dark chuckle. It sent a shiver along her spine, it was like electricity was running through her veins.

"Do I look like the mother type to you?"

She studied him. Truly studied him. She'd been so consumed by pain and panic that she hadn't been able to properly survey his appearance.

And no. He was far from the motherly type. With broad shoulders, a strong jawline, and brooding blue eyes, he was very masculine. Very intimidating.

He was beautiful.

She felt her cheeks heat up.

Lowering her head in an attempt to cover the fact that she was blushing, she said, "I guess not. You're quite masculine. There are not very many motherly attributes in you."

Glancing up at him through her lashes she caught the end of a smirk grabbing his face. This angel had the nerve to smirk at her!

"What's your name little one?"

"I'm not little."

His eyes seemed to twinkle at her. The brooding of before replaced with a dark humor.

"Compared to me, yes you are little."

Unmoving, she continued to glare at him.

"Please my angel, your name."

"First tell me yours."

Hesitating, he leaned back against the headboard of the bed, he tilted his head, analyzing her.

Finally, he said,"I am Raziel."

Raziel. The Angel of Mysteries. He was said to be the guardian of the secrets of the universe.

"Do you know all of my deepest darkest secrets?" She laughed. This was great.

"Why of course not all of them, just a few," that smirk was back.

Why did this angel effect her this way? She'd never connected with another living being before and this man stumbles upon her and had her emotions jumping all over the place, it was uncontrollable. Something must be wrong with her.

"Now, it's your turn lovely."

"Huh?"

"Your name, What is it?"

This was so hard to do. It may have seemed like a small thing. She knew it was just a name. But it was a part of her. For angels names were an easy in to know more about each other. Every single angel had a name rare to themselves. Every angel had their own task to do that kept the universe running. So by telling him her name, she would tell him exactly who she was, what she could do, and what her place was in the world.

"Ariel. It's Ariel."

"Ahh fitting. I understand now."

Her nose crinkled, "Understand what?"

"Your aura. The best way for me to explain it I guess is that your aura is soft in a motherly way. I'm sure you have a fierce side as well, as the protector of nature you would have to. But your aura is warm, soft, welcoming."

She blinked, completely dumbfounded. He made her sound so... beautiful. And kind.

"Well, that's good to know."

He laughed and the sound hit her deep.

"I'm glad you think so."

Why did he do this to her? Why did her blood run hot when he was near? Why did his presence render her unable to properly function?

She didn't know. But she knew that she had to find out. She just knew that she would drown in these feelings if she didn't.
