In the car Susan felt that the army of evil thoughts on the move. This time they seemed armed to the teeth and they would probably not stop until every nook and cranny of her mind and body were destroyed. In the grave silence of the police car, she started to whisper her protective mantra, but the thoughts were drumming closer and closer, until she could hear them shouting their obscenities and taunts at her. Susan almost gave in, but right then she remembered Mrs. Kirby's story. "That's it...I'll just look the other way. That way I could survive and that's the most important thing. That way Erin would still have a mum."
"Stop the car," she shouted to the policeman.
"But, Ms. Kelly...your daughter, she..."
"Would you stop the bloody car, please! I need to do something first."
