Breredith fluff. But what else would you expect from me?

The sun was streaming through the curtains of the master bedroom in the Stepien-Holden apartment. It was early in the morning on a Saturday and both Brian and Meredith were still asleep. Lucky for the both of them, they had a day off, so there was no need to be awake and rushing to the Adler Planetarium this weekend. (As much as Meredith would enjoy a ride to work, and document it for the enjoyment of us fangirls).

Meredith slowly opened her eyes as she was met with the scent of Brian. She could feel his chest rising and falling, due to the fact her head was laying on top of it. She was content, just laying there in bed and listening to him breathe, as well as listening to the faint chirps of the birds outside; it was a sunny morning in June after all.

As Meredith's eyes slowly adjusted to the morning light (not that she could see much without her glasses), she took in more of her general surroundings. She could feel Brian's left arm wrapped around her waist as she stayed curled up into his left side. Meredith remembered back to the night before and how that was how they fell asleep together, after another late night chat about nothing in particular. She started to absent-mindedly trace patterns on his chest, in some sort of attempt to wake her boyfriend up, to no avail. Sigh.

Meredith then turned her head to look up at Brian's face. From the light peeping through the curtains, she could make out the stubble that was starting to grow back on his jawline, even though he only shaved a couple of days ago. She placed her left hand on his face, stroking his cheek with her thumb. A small smile appeared on her face as she thought about how much she loved this man.

Brian groaned slightly as he started to wake up. Adding a yawn in there for good measure. Meredith just chuckled when she saw his messy hair as he lifted his head up to look at her properly.

"Good morning Mere" Brian said, half with it, as he placed a kiss amongst the curls of his girlfriend's (equally as messy) hair.

"Morning sleepy head, sleep well?"

"With you next to me? Always."

"Glad to hear that. What do you wanna do today, seeing as we both don't have to work"

"Mere, babe, it's only" Brian paused as he checked the clock on his bedside table "8:12am. Why are you so awake this early?"

Meredith shrugged in response. So Brian continued.

"Can't we just stay lying in here for a few hours. I don't know, cuddling for a bit. I'm too lazy to get up just yet"

Brian shifted his weight so he was no longer lying on his back, but on his side facing Meredith. He pulled her closer to him, which resulted in a squeal from Meredith at the unexpected action. Their faces were inches apart, meaning they could look into the other's eyes, watching how the morning sun made the other's sparkle.

The romantic moment was ruined when a low grumble echoed through the otherwise silent room. They both looked down at the source of the noise then back up at the other. Meredith wearing a guilty look on her face.

"I guess I'm hungry"

"You don't say. We should probably make ourselves something to eat. I made dinner last night so I think you need to make us breakfast"

"Excuse me, but I think you'll find we both made dinner last night, so don't even try that one Holden. We should decide this fairly in the best way we know how"

The smirk on Meredith's face worried Brian a little.

"Please don't say we should have a--"

"--Rock Paper Scissors match. Loser makes breakfast. Deal?"

"I have no choice in this, do I" Meredith shakes her head in response, a smile on her lips. "UGH fine, let's get this over with shall we"

The two of them got their hands poised, both ready to win, and stared down their opponent in an attempt to psych the other out.

"Rock. Paper. Scissors. Shoot"

It was Meredith's flat hand against Brian's balled fist. The victor of their little match was clear in an instant. Brian internally kicked himself for not remembering that that was always Meredith's first move.

"Paper covers rock. Looks like you'll be making us breakfast Bri." Meredith said, covering Brian's hand with her own, just to further emphasise the fact she had won. She leant up and planted a kiss on his lips, smiling as she pulled away.

"Yeah yeah. But after that kiss, I'd say we're both winners." Brian sassed back, giving Meredith a wink. "Alright give me my arm back and I'll go make us some food"

As asked, Meredith lifted her body up so Brian could free his arm from under her and get out of bed. His feet made a soft patter on the wooden floor as he crossed the room. When Brian reached the door that led to the rest of the apartment, he turned back to Meredith with one eyebrow raised. "You happy with some choc chip pancakes?"

Meredith's eyes widened and smiled the biggest smile you've ever seen, it could light up a room. Taking that as a big ol' yes, Brian nodded then continued walking out of the bedroom and to the kitchen.

Meredith then rolled onto her back and looked up at the ceiling. Closing her eyes and taking a deep breath, she thought 'life is good'.

She was thinking the exact same thing as she ate a pile of fluffy, chocolate-filled pancakes and discussed with Brian what they should do on their day off together. Should they go on a bike ride? Go out on a picnic? Or just stay home and have a movie marathon?

And you, dear readers, will never find out what they did. Because the author of this is too lazy to write anymore of this story. 😊

Hello my friends! Look what I managed to get out of my brain! I saw a prompt for this and thought that I just HAD to write something.

I am so sorry I haven't written anything in a LOOOOOOONG time, but I've been busy with school (which is very important right now).

But I hope you liked this. As always vote and comment your thoughts and any more ideas you may have.

Hugs and butterfly kisses,
~ Lauren 💛
