Lilith screamed again as a bullet hit her leg, causing her to collapse to the dirt road. She looked back nervously, her ears laid flat as she found the hunter on top of a building. Lilith started crawling away as best she could terrified of being killed. She glanced back up at the man that had been shooting from the roof and shut her eyes tightly as the he aimed the rifle at her again. She whimpered as she accepted her fate, knowing that there was nothing else she could do now. 'I should have listened to the stupid hunter...' she cursed at herself mentally as a few tears rolled down her face, her small frame shaking slightly.
Lupin lunged out of the forest, diving out at Lilith and grabbing her, quickly rolling her to safety in a shadow of a building as another shot rang out, hitting the dirt where they were moments before. "How many times have you been shot?! How badly where? Do you have a gun I can use to fire back with?!" Lupin rushed out. She looked at him before glancing at my leg. "I only got shot in the leg... i-it doesn't feel too bad though." Lilith replied before looking at him. "And where do you think I would get a gun?! I just got here!!" she growled. "Its shock hold still while I figure out where he is." Lupin said before he snuck around the side of the building, seeing the shine of a gun barrel above him. He started to climb up the side of the building, coming up behind the shooter and pushing him off. The shooter screamed, falling onto a railing and breaking his spine but not killing him. Lupin climbed back down before going around to end the shooter's life. "Thanks for playing but, Game over." Lupin stated before slitting his throat. He walked back to Lilith, picking her up gently before starting back into the woods, walking through a crick in the process to throw off any attackers before heading back to the cabin.
Lilith looked at him in confusion. "Why are you helping me?" she said quietly, her ears perked up at him. "I'm helping you because it's the right thing to do..." Lupin said softly, entering the cabin. "Now let me see you leg..." Lupin said quietly. Lilith looked at him, still a bit hesitant about trusting him before sighing, letting him see the wound on her leg. Lupin looked at the leg before sighing, "it's just a flesh wound... All I should need is to bandage it and have you rest for a few weeks..." Lilith laid her ears flat before sighing. "Great.... Just what I needed... " She shook her head as she mentally cursed herself for getting her into this mess. "Look, it could've been worse... and besides, you should be able to walk on it in a few days. Just no climbing or running..." Lupin said as he bandaged her leg.
She looked at him, glaring slightly. "Ya... and in those days I'm stuck having to be cared for by you...." she said in annoyance, her tail flicking. "Is it really that bad? I'm not a mean person... And besides, I have a few thing for you to do around here to earn your keep..." Lupin said, finishing up what he was doing. Lilith growled darkly, "To earn my keep? YOU kidnapped me and brought me here! I never wanted to come here in the beginning!" Her fur was puffed out in rage as she debated punching the grey wolf in the face. Lupin jumped back "HEY I was trying to make YOU feel better about having me taking care of you! Now calm your temper!" He snapped trying to keep some of his pride.
"I don't need you to care for me! I'd rather starve than be cared for by another being!" she spat bitterly. "Really now? Fine, then you can clean your own wound!" Lupin slashed the badges off the gunshot wound and walked off, slamming the door to his room. Lilith growled as he stormed off, laying down on the bed and ignoring the unbandaged wound. "Jerk.... I don't need his help.... I don't need anyone's help... I'm not weak.... I'm not weak...." she said coldly as her mother's lessons played through her head.
~Time skip 3 days~
Lupin awoke early. It had been 3 days since Lilith had been shot. He got up and went outside for a walk. Lilith was fast asleep on her bed, ignoring the random shocks of pain that occurred when she shifted slightly. She woke up after a while and sighed, glancing at her leg and growling in annoyance. "Stupid leg... stupid shooter.... Ugh, I hadn't walked blindly to the closest village I would have been JUST fine by now... but no. I am now stuck in this stupid room in this stupid cabin belonging to that stupid mutt!!" she spoke angrily to herself.
Lupin walked deep into the forest, forcing himself to relax "Why is she so stubborn and prideful..." Lupin muttered under his breath. There was a sharp yelp coming from the cabin as Lilith failed her attempt to get out of the bed for some food and water after a few days. Lupin stopped sighing, before turning around walking back to the cabin. "You finally ready to admit that you need help? That leg of yours is looking awful." Lupin snarked. Lilith glared at him before growling. "Never.... I'm not weak!" she hissed darkly. "I'll give it a day or two more than," Lupin said before grabbing a piece of jerky and heading off to his room. Lilith growled again before whimpering quietly to herself, deciding to just lay on the floor for now as pain continued to shoot through her leg. Her tail flicked from side to side as she growled at herself for being so weak as she started sitting up.
"I'll clean it as soon as you give up and say you can't make it on your own." Lupin yelled from his room. She growled, "I'm not bowing down to the likes of you!!" she paused for a moment, "but, umm, c-could you please bring me some food? I'm starving." she said, just barely loud enough for him to hear her. "Sure." Lupin got out of his bed and grabbed some jerky, knocking on her door before entering. "So are you finally coming to senses? And letting me help you."
"Jerk...." Lilith growled at him. Lupin chuckled and handed her the jerky. "Look, just get over your pride and let me clean your leg before I have to remove it..." Lupin stated sadly. She sighed and looked away, her ears laid back in defeat. "Fine....." she said dully, her head low. "Thank you." Lupin said before starting to clean the wound. She stayed silent as he did, her gaze locked down at the floor and her eyes dull. Lupin looked up after he finished. "Lilith look at me." Lupin said quietly. Lilith stayed still, ignoring him. "Lilith look at me." Lupin said a little more sternly. Lilith continued not responding, mentally yelling at herself for giving in so easily. "Lilith look at me." Lupin said sternly. She continued ignoring him. Lupin grabbed Lilith's head and forced her to look him in the eyes. "Lilith, just because you needed help, doesn't make you weak. If anything it makes you stronger."
"Not according to my mother and the rest of my family...." she said bluntly. "Your family is full of lies and cruelty." Lupin said sharply. Lilith simply moved her head out of his grasp and looked away. Lupin got up and sat next to her draping a long arm around her shoulders. "Look Lilith, it's okay that you need help sometimes..." Lupin said quietly. Lilith sighed and slowly leaned closer to him, enjoying the warmth that radiated off him and resting her head on his shoulder. Lupin quietly and gently stroked her head, Lilith purring softly as he pet her.
