If you haven't read the introduction then I suggest you do or you will be really confused with what's happening in this chapter.
The sounds of laughing children filled my ears as I sat in the back corner of the room, reading an article about Vampires. They are probobly the most famous fictional characters ever known. I've always wanted to know how the myth came along, and how someone could have possibly came up with the idea and name. They must've been really creative.
I feel someone grab the top of by book and bring it down, revealing my face. It was Mrs. Jackie, one of the orphanage counselors and the nicest lady I know.
"Rylan, why don't you ever go and play with everyone else? There are a couple people your age and the little kids love to hang with the older ones." She says setting the book on the floor and sitting in front of me.
"I know. I was but then I looked at the local libraries website and I saw a really cool book about Vampires. I just had to go and get it before they ran out." I explain, "Its really good."
"I understand that honey, but-" She was interrupted by a knock on the room door. She sighs and gets up.
She looks out the window and then looks back at me and smiles, "Its him."
"What?" I ask. He hasn't been here in 3 weeks. Why is he suddenly showing up?
I run to the door and open it, revealing Hamilton. His brown hair now adorned with blond is combed up nicely and he has a plaid blue button up shirt on. His crystal blue eyes are much brighter then the last time I saw him.
"Hamilton!" I screech and jump into his arms smiling. He laughs and hugs me back.
After he sets me down, he moves out the way revealing another tall boy that I didn't even realize was standing there. "Cameron, this is Rylan."
The Cameron boy smiles at me before reaching his hand out to shake. "Nice to meet you. Nash has told me a lot about you."
"Nash?" My eyebrows come together confusingly.
"Yeah. When I first met you, I wasn't really famous, as you could call it. I bought an app called Vine where you make six second videos. And somehow Cameron and I got famous from it." He explains, "Everyone calls me by my middle name, Nash. Because I honestly hate my first name."
"Oh. You shouldn't hate your first name. I like it." I tell him honestly, smiling.
"Just call him Nash from now on. He doesn't want people knowing his first name..." Cameron half whispers at the end and I nod smiling.
"Okay, Cameron will you let us talk real quick?" Nash asks Cameron who agrees and moves out the way.
Nash grabs my arm and pulls me past the hallway and out the front door of the orphanage. He leads me to a bench beneith the old willow tree that I have learned to love. He turns toward me with a slight grin on his face.
"There's a reason why I haven't been coming daily." He says looking into my dull green eyes.
"Why?" I ask. I have been waiting for this answer forever, "I thought that you had moved or something, or died."
"No I'm not moving, and I'm not dead." Nash laughs, "I have kinda been on a tour the past two weeks, but that's not the main reason I was gone."
"Well what's the main reason!" I ask getting worried. Is he sick? Is there something really wrong going on in his family?
"Cameron and I finally found and apartment yesterday and it had three bedrooms so we have been discussing something for a while, and we were wondering..." Nash starts.
"Hamilton! Oops, I mean Nash! C'mon!" I say grabbing his shoulders forcefully.
"We were wondering if you..."
Sorry to leave you on a cliffhanger! What do you think he is going to ask? Comment on how you think the first chapter was. Did you like it? Or nah? Sorry, I had too. Anyways I'll be updating later:)
