Samatha's POV
I woke up with a mission. Even though I felt stupid saying it, I was going to talk to Tyler no matter how annoying his ego was. That night it was even harder than ever to fall asleep. All I could think about was how terrible it would be to have to go to the school dance with such a Jerk. Him stepping on my toes, checking out other girls as we danced. I shivered at the thought; it was like an ongoing nightmare. As I slip into my favorite red ruby sneakers, my phone vibrated in my pocket.
Ready for a great day ahead? –Gabby
Of course, the always so optimistic Gabby. Even though she hated Tyler as much as me, she tried to convince me all last night that maybe there was actually a great person underneath his complete player ways.
Yeah. Sure… Because I’m looking forward to disgusting school lunch and bothering you :) Jk
I replied. I slipped my phone into my pocket, grabbed my book bag and ran downstairs before I was late. I had my hand on the door knob about opening the door when a voiced called out.
“Hold on, young lady. Did you even eat breakfast?” My mom said startling me.
“It’s ok, mom. I can just take something from the vending machines at school.” I say opening the door slightly to see Gabby’s car already parked in the front of our house. My mom took the door and closed it before I could get it fully open.
"At least go back in the kitchen and grab something to snack on." I let go of the door, groan loudly, and headed into the kitchen.
"You'll thank me later on, Sam, when you're starving in the middle of your chemistry test today." I roll my eyes and I probed through the pantry looking for something to eat. Grabbing the first thing that came to my mind, I quickly ran out the door before she could protest.
"Have a great day!" She yelled as I proceeded to Gabby's car.
"Wow, a banana. What a great choice for breakfast." She started the engine of her car, putting it on reverse and rolled it out of the driveway. "Your mom is right. You should eat breakfast more often."
"Whatever, Gabby. Just drive." I stuff the whole thing in my mouth and chew loudly.
"Yep, so many guys would be attracted to that." She said disgusted. I open my mouth to say something but she quickly stopped me. "Finish before you talk, Sam. At least try to have manners." She finishes sternly.
I finish chewing and looked at her. I'm not a mannerless person but sometimes I don't really care at times like these.
"You're really controlling sometimes. You know that right?" I say after swallowing my banana.
"Of course I am. How else is going to keep you in line?"
"Allie does that job."
"Yeah right. She's just careless as you."
"Everybody needs a person they can be plain out crazy with."
"But when you two are together it's guaranteed that something terrible is going to happen."
I just smile at her comment. It was very true. Nothing good ever happens when Allie and I are left alone, but of course you could never have too much fun.
A few seconds we arrive at school. Washington High School. A building I've loathed since the first day of ninth grade when two seniors decided it was a good idea to pull a prank on a bunch of freshman... And I had happened to be one of them. But we were now juniors and didn't have to worry about that anymore. Sure enough as we park the car in the parking lot, I see Tyler outside and for once he wasn't surrounded by girls.
