~Vai~

I paced the floor in my home as the sun went down.  People were dying, and I still didn't have a role to defend myself.  I needed to figure out my talent and start working on it, fast.  What was I good at?  I was kind of good at everything... a jack of all trades, you could call me.  Jack of all trades, master of none.  That described me pretty well.  Honestly, I really only cared about getting my role because I wanted to live a while longer.  Maybe I wasn't putting enough effort into getting my role, and now karma was coming back to bite me in the ass for it.

At least, that was what I thought until I reached into my pocket.  I slid out my rolecard to find the word Survivor written on it.  I could be on anyone's side, which explained the jack of all trades thing I had going.  And, well, I did want to survive.  I decided I would use a vest tonight and, if I didn't get attacked, I would assume that the evils were holding off on killing in case there were more of their kind potentially within the town.  With the vest on, I went to bed, knowing I was as safe as possible.

I awoke the next morning, so that was a good sign.  Getting out of bed, I pulled off my vest and shoved it into my closet before I headed out for the town meeting.  It seemed I had arrived early; most of the citizens weren't out of their homes yet.  I headed over to Ria, offering her a smile, which she returned.

"I got my role."  I told her.  She raised an eyebrow, signifying her interest.  "I'm a Survivor."  I wasn't afraid of the other citizens hearing me.  After all, who would try to kill a potential ally?  "What about you?  You got a role yet?"  She shook her head.  "Oh.  That sucks.  Well, I'm sure it won't take long."  I paused for a moment.  "I would offer to help, but I don't know how to.  Sorry."

"It's fine."  Ria gave me an understanding look.

"Alright!"  Mekhi called out once the rest of the town came out.  "Does anyone have any leads?!"  Nobody responded for a moment.  "Alright, well, I guess I'll talk then.  I can confirm that Nazar is innocent, and Deon shouldn't be a problem, either.  I'll get to Shayton once I can."

"And what the fuck is your role?"  Shelby asked.

"Jailor."  Mekhi replied confidently.  "Deon, Nazar, would you like to confirm?"

"He's the Jailor."  The two agreed.

"Well, do we know anything else?"  I inquired.  There was silence.

"It doesn't appear so."  Mekhi broke the silence.  "But we'll know more tomorrow, hopefully."
