"Gajeel! Gajeel! Gajeel!" Levy screamed his name running into the guild. He rose a brow as he ate some iron.
"What is it bookworm,"
"I may have found something!" She shouts happily sitting down next to him. He spits out his 'food' in shock. "Look at this," On the page of a book it reveals a large tree with almost lighted neon round shaped plants dangling from it. "They are called Salutem plants, very rare nearly none ever seen."
"So what do they do?"
"Well, all you have to do is take a bite out of them along with an ancient healing process called Sana Languorem. If we could get Wendy to come with us and have her learn that ancient magic plus bring this plant back it might heal her."
"Might?" He sighed.
"There's no way of telling, it claims to heal any sickness. What do you say?" Gajeel looked at Lily then back at the infirmary.
"We leave tonight, talk to Wendy I'll be at the train station by nine."
"Where are you going?"
"To get ready for this job,"
Time Skip
"Gajeel I thought we were going to the station," Lily pondered as he walked in the guild.
"Gotta see someone first," He replies walking to the infirmary. Lily smiles knowing he is here to talk to Y/N. Gajeel walked in quietly.
"Y/N?" He walked in front of her seeing her sleeping peacefully. He smiled down at her kneeling down. His arms rested on the edge of the bed as he was admiring her. She moved slightly making her face come closer to his. Gajeel closes his eyes sighing. "Just hang in there Shortie," He slowly leaned closer to her placing his lips on her forehead. Gajeel stood straight walking out of the room and on his way to the train station. As he walked up seeing Levy his face falls noticing that she wasn't the only one there. "What the hell are you all doing here?!" Natus, Lucy, Erza, Gray, and Happy were all there. Erza stepped forward smiling.
"We would like to help you save Y/N," Gajeel growls but slowly sighs.
"Fine, but I'm in charge and be quiet on the damn train!" They all chuckle but Natsu grumbles.
"I don't like you being in charge,"
"Well, I don't like you at all, now move it Pinkie!" Natus punched him. Gajeel turned around about to punch him back before Erza grabbed the two by their shirts.
"Stop this nonsense! We will miss our train!" Gajeel groaned as he was dragged onto the train.
Another Time Skip
It was now the next day. Gajeel and the others walked through a forest with no name in search of the rare plant. While they began their journey in the guild hall Y/N was now walking up and around. She sat at the bar eating waiting for what felt like hours. Her head rested on her palm as she let out a long sigh.
"What's with the frown?" Cana asked chugging a barrel of wine. Y/N looked at the guild doors.
"Just waiting for Gajeel to stop by the guild. He's usually here by now," Cana gulped before chuckling.
"Y/N he ain't here cause he's on a job," Y/N's head shot up.
"A job?"
"Yeah, he left last night with Levy and Natsu's team." Y/N crossed her arms.
"He didn't even say anything to me,"
"He was going to," Y/N turned around seeing Makarov standing with a smile. "Gajeel came here late last night to say goodbye but you were sleeping. He didn't want to wake you,"
"Oh," Y/N mumbled looking at the ground. "When will he be back?"
"I'm not sure my dear but what I am sure of is that you shouldn't worry where he is right now but make sure you ar focused on your health. Now, Porlyusica will be here soon to give you medicine so probably best to go back to-" Y/N stood up.
"I know, I know, back to the prison." She groaned walking back to the infirmary. Makarov shook his head as she walked in.
"That boy better be able to help my little girl,"
"Don't worry old man!" Cana shouted. "If he really loves her then he's not going to let her die," She chugged more wine as Makarov walked back to his office.
Back to Gajeel
"So where would these things be?" Gray asked. Levy read the book as they walked.
"It says that they will be at the smiling woman tree," She shows a picture of a tree that looks to have a figure of a woman. Her arms extend out becoming the branches of the tree as her eyes are closed but a small smile on her face. "In order to achieve the berry, you must pass a test to prove you are worthy of the rare plant."
"Worthy!? Like what?" Gajeel groaned.
"You must prove yourself to her in a way," Erza pondered as they walked. After searching for hours following the 'sacred map' in the book they had no luck.
"Maybe we should start and look again tomorrow," Lucy suggested tiredly.
"Look again? We've walked for hours almost through this whole forest and have found nothing. The thing is probably fake," Gray groaned and Natus agreed. Gajeel grumbled snatching the map.
"You lazy asses can go to sleep while I find this god damn tree, I came here for a cure and I ain't leavin without one!"
"Gajeel wait!" Levy shouted as he began to stomp off. Gajeel cursed under his breathe squinting his eyes.
"Damn it! I can't see a thing out here," Gajeel looked at the map before his eyes widen. At two random marks of the trail are dashes. One going to the left and one going to the right. He folded the paper until they crossed each other creating an 'X'. He smirked grabbing two rocks sparking them until a flame could be seen. His hand gripped tightly onto a torch now following the new trail. He ran as fast as he could trying to desperately find this tree. As he looked down at the map a loud thud was heard as he bumped into something hard. Looking up slowly he could see the tree almost exactly like the one in the picture. Gajeel had a smile grow on his face. Footsteps could be heard coming up behind him.
"Gajeel come to sleep on it!" Lily shouted. As they came into view of the tree they all smiled seeing that he found it.
"Hey! He did it!" Levy smiled.
"Yeah he found it but now what? We gotta prove ourselves remember?" Gray crossed his arms.
"How do we do that?"
"Prove yourself to me that you are worthy of this berry," Everyone jumped back hearing the feminine voice from now the taking woman tree. She began to glow making the area around them look like it was lighted by gold lights.
"What do you want me to prove?" She eyes Gajeel closely.
"What's your reasoning for trying to get this berry?"
"My friend is dying cause of an uncured sickness, I want this to heal her."
"No," Gajeel balled his fist.
"No!? She's dying!"
"How else do you want us to prove that!?" Gray shouted.
"How badly do you want her to live?"
"She's family!" Natsu shouted.
"I'm not asking you, boy!" Her voice raised silencing everyone. "Everyone knows someone that they don't want to die but they obviously don't care enough or else I would see a lot more people begging me for this berry. So tell me how much are you willing to do to save this girl?" Everyone fell silent as Gajeel glared at the tree. "If you don't answer in three seconds, you will not get a second chance. Answer or leave," She spat. Gajeel cleared his throat.
"I would give up my life if it meant she got to live long and healthy," Everyone's eyes widen. Levy covered her mouth. Each of them would help Y/N in a heartbeat but Gajeel, no one never really knew how far he'd go for her.
"How do I know you would do that?" Gajeel grit his teeth dreading having to confess everything in front of the team.
"Because I love her,"
