Gabbie finds herself in the field where she first met the Cullens and sits on the ground just thinking. Her and Bella haven't talked since the movie incident and Jake's doing better though he keeps avoiding Bella, something that could have disastrous consequences. The girl is a ticking time bomb about to burst. She starts to ponder on all the memories she shared with the vampires and the tears coming rolling down her face causing her to scream in frustration. Can she not go one time thinking of them without bursting out crying... guess not.
She doesn't know how long she is in the field before warning bells rock her body. She quickly stands and follows the direction her body is telling her to go. In her haste she find herself stumbling into branches and shrubs causing cuts to explode on her face. She prays that she isn't too late - and that it isn't concerning a certain human. Getting to a beautiful meadow she sees surprise surpise Isabella Swan and a figure parallel to herself. Isabella is surprised by the two figures, she is far off any trail so she wasn't expecting company. But Gabbie is more concerned with the figure standing in utter stillness with pallid skin. She knows Isabella hopes for it to be a Cullen but Gabbie is harder to trick, or less hopeful. Gabbie continues to surveillance the stranger from his stance to the face beneath the disarray of black hair. Recognition hits her and she doesn't understand the warning her body is giving her.
"Laurent!" Isabella cries in surprised pleasure and Gabbie slaps her forehead. Sometimes she wonders if this girl has a brain.Laurent was in James's Coven when they all had the pleasure of meeting. Of course, he could have changed, because he'd gone to Alaska to live with the other civilized coven there, the other family that refused to drink human blood for ethical reasons. But looking at his red eyes she knows it isn't plausible.
"Bella?" he asks, looking more astonished than both girls felt.
"You remember." she smiles and Gabbie finally make her appearance running up to Isabella's figure and squaring off with the hungry vampire.
"Gabbie! The witch!" he grins. "I didn't expect to see you here." his expression is bemused as he strolls over to the girls. Gabbie puts up a mental barrier and Laurent smirks. "Still up with your tricks I see."
"What are you doing here, Laurent?" questions Gabbie still on edge.
Isabella adds on. "I thought you'd gone to Alaska."
He cocks his head to the side. "You're right," he agrees. "I did go to Alaska. Still, I didn't expect... When I found the Cullen place empty, I thought they'd moved on."
"Oh." Isabella bites her lip as the name set the raw edges of her wound throbbing. Laurent waits with curious eyes. "They did move on," she finally states and Gabbie resists the urge to groan. Was this girl daft, don't tell a hungry vampire you are all alone without protection.
"Hmm," he murmurs. "I'm surprised they left you behind. Weren't you sort of a pets of theirs?" His eyes are innocent of any intended offense.
Gabbie scoffs with a wry smile. "Something like that."
"Hmm," he says, thoughtful again.
Isabella seems to finally acknowledge the danger of his eyes as she takes an involuntary step back, Laurent's curious gaze following her movements.
"Do they visit often?" he asks, still casual, but his weight shifts towards them.
"Lie," the beautiful velvet voice whispers anxiously from Gabbie's memory. She starts at the voice and turns slightly to see Jasper's figure next to hers. Tears of happiness begin to fill her eyes but she quickly keeps them at bay.
"Often. they are actually on their way back now."
"The time seems longer to us, I imagine. You know how they get distracted..." Isabella is beginning to babble.
