He arrests you

The sound of the siren sounded like nothing but a light ringing as my feet slapped the pavement. I was running for my life through Mystic Falls.

It was my first time here, I was just passing through for a run.

If the cops caught me now, I'd be done for. I was the one with the drugs and I had nowhere to plant them.

I was so focused on getting down the alleyway and turning into an apartment that I didn't realize a cop car blocked me in.

Another one pulled behind me and I cursed under my breath.

They surrounded me and told me to raise my hands but I knew the drill.

"It was me, it was all me."

"Are you sure about that?"

"Why? You have no reason to believe otherwise, so why don't you just talk my word for it? Thanks." I winked.

The sheriff of Mystic Falls placed both hands on the table and looked at me intently before walking away and out of the door.

"What the fuck?" I muttered.

He came back about ten minutes later and unlocked the cuffs.

"You're free to go, ma'am."

"Are you shitting me?" I squinted at him while rubbing my wrists.

"Nope. Someone confessed and all the evidence pointed to them."

I looked around the station, racking my mind for who could have done it.

"Julio?"

"Confidential."

"It was fucking Julio!" I gasped, I had to get him out of here.

I darted past the sheriff and went back to the questioning rooms.

I saw them drag Julio out and when he saw me, he began to resist.

"Y/N!"

"Julio! I'm going to get you out! Don't worry!" The sheriff was holding me back as I kicked and yelled to him.

I yanked myself away and pointed in the sheriff's face, "You're going to let him out and I'm going to take his place."

He threw me over his shoulder and walked me towards an office.

"There's no evidence that points to you, other than the fact you had the drugs on you. Which you will be getting consequences for."

"Oh, fuck off." I rolled my eyes, "Why are you taking him, he wasn't even with me? How did you find him?"

"So many questions. Why do you care anyways?"

"Why are you asking questions that are out of line?"

"Why are you still talking to me if I'm actually going to let you go?"

"Why would you let me go?"

Silence.

"Because I want to go out with you, just one last meal before I lock you up."

"How much time?"

"Can range for five to ninety nine years. Depending on the court, of course."

"It wasn't even that much fucking cocaine." I muttered.

"Listen, we're in Mystic Falls." He shrugged, "You're free to go."

I stood up as quickly as I could, "Then let Julio go too."

"Fine." He raised his hands in defense and pulled his walkie talkie off his chest and began to speak into it.

I watched him with careful eyes until he pulled away from it and placed it back on his chest, "Happy that your boyfriend is out now?"

"He's not my boyfriend." I pulled up my pants a little and headed for the door.

"Let me take you out. I'm not usually this straight forward and I don't normally go for-"

"Criminals?"

"I was going to say people out of my league but that too." He chuckled.

"Why would I be out of your league?"

"You're beautiful, sharp tongue, smart. A dash of crazy." He shrugged.

"I'd like that." I smiled, "To go out with you, I mean."

"I knew." He laughed, awkwardly, "I knew that's what you meant."

"Should we go...now?"

"I need to get Julio somewhere safe. I'll call?"

"Here's my number." The sheriff scribbled his number on a post it note and placed it in my hand.

"What's your name anyway?"

"Matt. Matt Donovan."

"Bye Matt, until we meet again." I smirked.

"You know, a couple hours." He grinned back.
