Old Friends Meet (Her Perspective)

    I wake up to the sound of Haylee yelling at us to get our butts up and quit burning daylight. She stomps across the hallway, bangs on the other girls door, waking them up as well. I get dressed and brush my teeth and put my hair up in a sloppy bun because I really don't give two shits today. I go to the breakfast buffet and meet the girls. I have to find coffee. Thanks Haylee... 

   
    I am soon joined by my girls and eat breakfast. Afterwards, we go claim our spots at the pool to catch some rays. I plug in my head phones and listen to R5. Mckaylin taps on my shoulder.

  "Hey Maddie, there are these too guys waving at you and Haylee. I don't reconize them". I soon get up to look. I couldn't reconize them. I get Haylee up. We slowly walk towards them. 

  "Who are they?" I ask Haylee. 

  She looks at me sarcastic like. "I don't know Madison. If I knew we wouldn't be walking up to them so awkwardly."

    The two strange guys herd that and said "Good one Haylee." As soon as Haylee heard their voices, she knew exactly who they were. 

    "Kelly, Trevor! Its been so long!" She yells as she embraces both of them. 

    It took me a minute to realize that these are the same two guys that Haylee and I hung out with on our last cruise, nearly four years ago. I can't believe they still remember us, let alone are here on the same trip! 

     "OMG guys hi!" I exclaim as I also give them huge hugs. "How are you, how has life been?" They both just shrugged and laughed. 

    Kelly says "well, we both needed to get away from it for a while so if that tells you anything, haha!" 

     After a brief moment of catching up with the guys, we bring them over to the rest of our friends for introductions. About that time we also see Colby and Aaron heading our way. 

      We exchange greetings with the two and introduce them to Kelly and Trevor not elaborating that we knew them prior to the cruise. Kelly puts his arm around Haylee and asks "how's my favorite little hillbilly?" and all the girls laugh because we know this is an inside joke. (Kelly is from New Mexico while Haylee is from Arkansas.)

        I look at Colby and Aaron to see if they understood the reference and while Colby just looked a bit confused, Aaron was shooting death glares at Kelly. I was about to step in and pull Aaron and Colby aside to clarify just who these two "strangers" were, but before I could do anything, Trevor pipes up and says "hey Maddie, you know I'm single now right?" along with a flirtatious wink. This of course, is another inside joke, but it seemed to strike a nerve in Colby.

        "Hey Trevor, I'm Colby Brock. I'm...a good friend of Maddie's," he says as he reaches out for a handshake.

        "Nice to meet ya Colby!" replies Trevor. I think us girls could all sense the new tension in the air.
