"your body looks like heaven, i just wanna give up"

layla boarded the plane and sat in her usual window seat with reid to her right. garcia played the 911 call for them and hotch divided the team into jobs. layla, hotch and reid were assigned to set up at the atlanta field office.

as soon as the plane landed the team split up. layla, hotch and reid piled into a black suv and rode to the field office. layla hummed along to the radio and rested her head against reid's shoulder while hotch occasionally glanced at the pair in the rear view mirror, only to smirk knowingly and look back towards the road.

once they got to the office, layla and reid started to pin up photos of the victims alive, the crime scene and a map of the city for the geographic profile.

"what did you think of the call?" layla asked reid as they worked.

"after hearing it, i'm assuming we're only dealing with two unsubs. many dominant unsubs refer to themselves in the third person. ted bundy, for example, described his murders in extreme detail, but never owned up to it. he would never say i, only 'the killer'," reid answered simply.

layla nodded and reached for a new piece of tape, "i have to agree with you on that. the way the first unsub talked was like he was directly talking to raphael and the only other person in the room that we know of is the second unsub."

jj walked into the room, making both layla and spencer turn around, "i just got off the phone with garcia and the kyles were good people. they were good employers, generous people. they didn't have any enemies."

layla pursed her lips, "maybe money was the motivation. they had a nice house," she suggested.

"but you can't tell that from the outside." hotch countered from his seat at the table where he'd been reviewing the files while layla and spencer had been hanging up the pictures.

"then the unsubs were goal driven," layla decided.

jj's phone rang, and she answered the call. it was brief and as soon as she flipped her phone shut, she reported to reid, layla and hotch.

"emily just got the autopsy. their throats were slashed along with getting two cuts, each one on a major artery. apparently that's how animals are slaughtered," she announced.

reid nodded, "that's how they drained the carcass."

"well that's pretty sophisticated," layla said, "probably isn't their first offense."

jj nodded in agreement, "i'll have the detective pull knife crime files for us," she said before walking out to find the detective.
