Chapter 2: They Arrive

We were on our way to the mall but stopped at "jakpa junction" (a place in warri) when we saw there had been a blockade of cars on the road all the way to the mall and there was no was way to go through so we came down and decided to go by foot

"I'm hungry" said favour

"See this is why I hate being around you, how could you think about food right now" said C.y "There are dead bodies all over the road and you're still hungry?"

"Dude, leave the poor guy alone" I said "I'm kinda hungry myself"

"So how are we going to get there? I still have a broken nose" said Erie

"Oh shut up and quit your whining, it's just a broken nose" said jenny who walked over and held Erie and pulled the nose back in place. This made Erie scream so much that I had to cover her mouth

"Get off me, that hurts, why would she do that?" said Erie

"Well you're welcome" said jenny

"Oh screw you" said Erie trying to pick a fight with Jenny who inturn slapped her.

After trying to separate them I noticed something was off.

"Where's favour?" I said

Yup, that annoying hungry kid is missing

"Favour! Favour!! Favour!!!" Screamed C.y

We all screamed his name but couldn't find him

  "Let's split up and try to find him" I said

"Ehn? You say? Split up ké? No oo" said C.y "Don't you watch American movies if we split up we all die. this is Nollywood abeg let's stay together"

"This is all your fault, if you hadn't try to fix my nose that kid wouldn't have wondered off" said Erie

"Do you really want to do this right now? I helped you. If I hadn't done that you'd still be whining like a little baby" Jenny replied

"Shut up!! Both of you, my little brother is missing and you're still arguing? We gotta find him" Said C.y

"Prince, you're the geeky one, better come up with a plan"

"Uhmm, let's uhmm, tr--y to uhmm retrace our steps" I said confused

"Okay then, let's go. Lead the way" said c.y

"Shouldn't we at least have weapons or something?" Jenny said "we are basically in a movie, we need to defend ourselves"

We all picked up something :
Jenny got a pocket knife (she had that with her this whole time)

Erie got a remote (really?)

C.y got an underwear and some stones saying it's a "catapult/slingshot" (that is so f'd up)

I got a padlock (what am I gonna do with that?)

So we all moved towards where we came from retracing our steps and kept on yelling favours name. we searched for about 3 days until we saw someone or so we thought.

We saw a tall figure, his back was bent like he has a hunch back and his hair was full like he had horns but we didn't care at that point we just had to ask if he had seen favour.

"Hi, excuse me, uhm have you seen a kid, about 9 years old, dark skinned and hungry" I asked

The figure didn't move but I think we heard a weird noise

"Is he growling?" Jenny asked

"Prince, we gotta go" Erie said terrified

I was already getting close to the figure

"No go oo, hmmm, na so dem take dey die for American film oo" C.y yelled (Don't go, that's how they die in American movies)

But I insisted with my padlock in my hand I said to myself "it's just a guy, what could go wrong?"

Immediately I touched the figure, it turned and looked at me and behold I saw the most horrifying thing ever. It had 3 eyes, with really cool hair tbh, and it's got a tail and before I could react it tried to bite me but I blocked it with my padlock (yup I knew that sh*t would come in handy) and c.y started shooting at it with his slingshot (underwear) and it hits me with it's tail and I fly across the street hitting my head on a rock passing out.

After a while I woke up but was feeling drowsy and I could hear

"Let's eat him, he's practically dead"

"We can't, there's a chance he'll wake up"

"Yeah, what if he's been bitten by that thing?"

"I checked, he hasn't"

  "Okay, let's just eat him"

  "Who's going to be eaten?" I said

  "Prince, you're awake, thank God" said Erie "Told you he'd wake up"

"Whatever!" said jenny rolling her eyes

C.y helped me sit up and told me all that happened.
After I had passed out, they ran out of stones for the slingshot (underwear) and Jenny's pocket knife was no use because she didn't want to get close to the monster and Erie's remote (well you know that was never gonna be useful) but at the last moment when they were about to eaten (trust me you won't believe what happened next)

C.y's phone which was on 3% had an alarm on for 11:34 pm and it rang and the magical song called "One Corner" played. (One corner is a Ghanaian hit song that scatters any party, where everyone will go and hug something in one corner hence the name) So the monster couldn't resist this magical tone and he had to abide to the beat and it held on to the nearest corner it could find and that happened to be a transformer (so yeah you know what happens when you hug transformer) so they manage to escape and we hid in our old lesson building at grassroots.

"Wow, did that really happen? I know that song was awesome but it worked on monsters?" I asked

"Yup it did" C.y said smiling

Then we heard a noise because someone was coming this way, jenny held her pocket knife and hid behind the door and the figure walked in but this time not as tall as the last one but jenny held it and put the knife on it's throat and the figure spoke

"I'm sorry, please I don't mean to hurt you, I'm here to help" it said "we have a camp not to far from here"

"What's your name?" Jenny asked taking it's hoodie off to reveal its face

"I'm Paul and you must come with me if you want to live"
