Lord Christopher was pissed.
As he sat on his study chair, he reflected and tried to recall where he had gone wrong.

He looked at the shivering maid kneeling at his feet, the sight of her angered him more but he knew it wasn't her fault. His wife was as hard as a rock and as stubborn as a wild cat.

Christopher had never been this disoriented before, he had gone on a trip only to return and find out that his wife had left on the same night he was gone.

A sharp sniffle brought his wandering mind back to the situation at hand. He ordered the maid to get on her feet, He needed precise answers and she had better give it to him, or he won't hesitate to cut off her tongue.

"You said your mistress went on a trip alone. When was that and at what time.?"

Violet shoulders shook with fright. Her tiny form vibrated and she flinched at every move Lord Christopher made. She knew she was in trouble and the tiniest possibility of her leaving this room alive was nonexistent.

"My Lord, Lady Charlotte left the night you embarked on a journey to the wasted lands. She left at dusk because she didn't want anyone to recognize her, my Lord."
Violet said, head still bent low.

Christopher watched the girl who looked stricken and ready to drop. He didn't have much time for such drama, so he went on to the next question.
"Where did she go? Why didn't she take the guards with her?" He queried.

" She headed for Ponti my Lord. Lady Charlotte demanded to go alone and when I offered to go with her she insisted that she go alone. I'm truly sorry my Lord." Violet couldn't stop the tears they just kept pouring.

Christopher listened with apt attention. He knew that Charlotte been in Ponti was for one reason, he couldn't help but feel the ache in his heart that his wife would keep such a great ordeal from him.
He knew he was being hard on her, but he was going to make it right. He would go find her and support her because that was what he should have done from the start.

Looking at the young maid he took a sip from his crystal glass. He would have disposed of her for her inefficiency, but he didn't want to anger his wife.
" You may leave, but remember this young woman. I only spare your life today because of the love I have for my wife. You should pray to your God, the next time may be your last."

Out of surprise, Violet's eyes bulged out of their sockets. Lord Christopher does not forgive easily, she quickly fell on her knees and thanked him, he only stood up from his chair, glass in hand, and left the room.

Lady Charlotte moved with spring. The old man had finally given answers to all her unanswered questions, she followed the route as he had directed. The excitement of seeing her daughter made her knees shake, would she like me?
Would she look like Henry?
Would she believe me?
All these questions kept revolving in her mind.

A little commotion coming from afar, jutted her back to reality, she strained her eyes to see what was happening but all she saw was a large gathering of people.

Deciding to move on towards her destination she realized that the description the man had given her was just in front and her feet were leading her towards mayhem.

Lady Charlotte moved fast yet cautiously towards the gathering, she was not a fan of such meeting but she needed to know what was going on.
