"Heisuke-kun, please, let me help you!!" I pleaded. He just growled and turned away as far as he could without bringing more agony upon himself.
"Go...!!!!" He muttered once more. I took a few steps back but refused to leave him. Finally, his features resorted back to normally, but he collapsed.
"Heisuke-kun!!!!!!" I kneeled by his side and threw his arm around my neck, dragging him back to the headquarters. Saito rushed out to meet me and took him from my arms.
"The bloodlust..." Saito mumbled. I nodded slowly.
"I see. Thank you." And with that, he brought Heisuke inside. I hesitantly turned back to collect the wood, and hurried back when I found some old chunks of brittle lumber. When I approached Nagakura and Harada, I saw they were preparing the oil to pour onto the bodies, to help them burn. It was a disturbing process wholly. I handed Harada the wood and he nodded his thanks. I watched him position the wood, then lay the bodies atop the pile. With a click of flint, the wood caught fire. The flames slowly crept up to the bodies, until it ignited the oil and the real blaze started with a roar. After perhaps an hour of staring at the cremation, nothing remained but ashes. I sighed and frowned as I sulked back into my room. I didn't hear another word from anyone that night, or the next day.
