The sky was a deep blue as night came. The 3 of us started to set up the camp, the rank 7 girl being extremely skilled in starting fires.

"What's your name?" I asked smiling at the rank 7 girls.

"Julie Thomas. I went to your school Alice" Julie responded. I blinked and blushed embarrassedly, I was almost never at school and the only 2 classmates I remembered were my table mates, Elena and Lauren.

"Well Julie," Tessa said smiling, "Welcome to the pack!". Tessa had mastered a skill of sounding hospitable and welcoming whereas I stared at Julie with a skeptical look. She had, after all, cut my arm. The thought of my injury made me flinch slightly. The bandage was soaked with blood and overflowing, staining my relatively clean silver suit. Good thing the cut only ran on my lower arm so my inner shirt wasn't drenched in blood. I pulled off my jacket and immediately started rubbing snow into it.

"Here I'll take that," Julie said blushing, "Sorry for attacking you, I thought you were trying to attack me or something," she said.

Julie and I paid our apologies then settled down to rest for the night.

The national anthem came on, playing the deaths from the lower ranks up to the top. 2 tributes died, the male from rank 12 and Julie's rank partner. She murmured softly when his face lit up the sky. She must have lost him during the career chase. I expected the rank 7 male to be the last face we saw, but another face lit up the screen. A female with blonde hair and startling green eyes. I gasped, so did the others.

"Rebecca. She's dead!" Tessa shrieked as she and Julie jumped up and down with joy. I understood their celebration, that was one more big threat for them out of the way. But to me, Rebecca was one more person who had died in my hands. Another burden to carry to my death.

I turned around to see Tessa and Julie whispering and eyeing me. They quickly averted their eyes when I stared at them. I realized now that I was their biggest threat aside from Jake and Brian. I slipped a sheath of knives into my sleeping bag my hands wrapped around it as if my life depended on it.

I suppose I was right, as I woke up with Julie's ax slammed to the floor a centimeter away from my face.
