Going Home - Chapter Nine

I stayed through almost all of Two-Bit's birthday party and he loved his present. I'm kind of nervous about going home, but my parents probably hadn't noticed that I was even gone. I opened the door and almost made it to my room.

"He spaz! Where were you?"

"Leave me alone Zavier."

Zavier is my brother and he's never very nice to me.

"Look you can give Mom and Dad whatever excuse you want, but I know where you were."

"Oh... you do?"

"Yeah at Bryant's house," he shoved me.

"Do you know how long it's been since I broke up with Bryant."

"Yeah," he sounded defeated.

"Did they notice that I was gone?"

"Not really."

That really hurts, despite the fact that I need them to not notice me. It would be nice to have parents that actually care.

Now, to go act like I've been here the whole time. I walked into my kitchen to find mom and dad cooking.

"What were you doing with that greaser boy?"

I'm confused, did they see me in town with Sodapop?

"What are you talking about?"

"We saw you in town with a greaser boy. This is unacceptable."

"He's human too, they all are."

"No," my father scolded. "They are all no good hooligans. I will not have you jeopardizing our family by being in cohorts with their kind."

"They're the same as us. They're all good people."

"Go to your room and think about what you've said."

I turned on my heels and ran to my room.

It isn't fair for them to be treated like this. They are good people, and I'm going to prove it.

I shut the door and went to the phone on my wall. Dialing the Curtis house number I picked up the phone.

"Hello?"

"Darry?"

"Yeah this is Darry."

"Can you come get me."

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing, nothing, but my parents found out that I was with you guys and I don't want to be here right now."

"Alright, I'll be there in just a minute."

In a few minutes Darry was here and he brought Sodapop, who was hanging out the window.

I grabbed my red dress, and since my room was on the first floor, I went out the window. I quickly hopped in the car and was greeted happily by Sodapop and Darry.

Before we could drive off my parents were running out the front door and came to stand in front of the car.

Hello! I'm sorry it's short, I'm trying to get something to you, anything. It's been really busy around here. Give me another week and I will be updating regularly again. Thank you so much for being patient. Stay Gold!
