Alexis had no clue where she was when she woke up. At first, the grey walls and the silky sheets wrapped around her body were unfamiliar. The light snoring from beside her was definitely too deep and manly to be her daughters.

But then the throbbing headache exploded in her temples and the shock of not waking up her bed faded. She was afraid that she'd pass out, but the incoming nausea kept her conscious.

The person next to her shuffled and turned to his side, pulling her closer in his sleep. When she felt a beard scratching her neck, she knew it was Negan. How the hell did this happen? She bit her lip and lifted the blanket, relieved to see that she wasn't naked. At least they didn't have drunk sex. Amazing.

Through the sharp pain of the hangover, she suddenly realized that she had slept in Negan's bed. With the man himself by her side. In his arms.

Her eyes widened to the size of saucers and a sudden panic rushed through her veins. She pushed his arm away and jumped out of the comfortable bed and rushed into the bathroom. Breathing heavily, she tried her best to calm herself but it only got worse.

Alexis slid down the door and onto the cool floor after locking the door. Tears filled her eyes and she covered her face with her hands to keep herself from sobbing.

The last time she had slept by a man's side was before the apocalypse. With her husband. Since he died she never had anyone got that close to her, that deep under her skin. Not even Marcus. She had sworn herself that she'd never attach herself to anyone again, besides Kitty. Caring for someone made you vulnerable and she just couldn't be weak.

Adding to that, there was this huge, overwhelming feeling of betraying her husband. She never loved him that deeply enough to say that she still wasn't over the fact that he was dead. Actually, she never loved him enough to have a proper, working marriage, but she cared for him once. And it felt so wrong, to fall for another man even tough Alexis knew that it shouldn't have been like this. Kitty was supposed to grow up having a father and Alexis would've held that up for her. She probably wouldn't even have met Negan, nor would she ever have spared a closer look at him.

But here she was, locked in the bathroom, telling herself that it was just the alcohol that had brought her into his bed. Another lie. Drunk people always tell the truth...and do what they really want.

"Lex?"

Negan's gruff, sleepy voice drawled from the room. She held her breath, not knowing what to say for once. Her throat was dry, feeling like she was about to choke.

Sheets shuffled and then a loud thud sounded, followed by groan and a flood of curses.

"Fuck, fuck this fucking shit. I'll never ever be fucking drinking again."

Heavy footsteps came closer to the bathroom before the handle of the door rattled, not letting Negan in. Then there was a short silence, as if he was trying to think through his cloudy, pain struck brain.

"Lexi? Are you alright?"

His voice was calm and more clear now. It sounded almost soft, like he knew what was going on with her and he didn't want to scare her away.

She took a deep breath in and quickly wiped the tears away.

"Yeah, um, I'll be out in a sec."

The young woman tried her best to hide her discomfort and struggle, but she bet she looked pretty silly. Still, she couldn't hide in here forever, especially now with Negan waiting for her in front of the door.

Slowly she got up, but still the dizziness hit her heavily and nearly made her lay on the floor again. With shaking hands she opened the door, only to be met by Negan's sharp eyes. It took him less than a second to see right through her. He knew that there must be something more than just the embarrassment of what she did last night. Her eyes were still teary and Negan was sure that there wasn't much in this shitty world that could make Alexis cry.
