Jimin is excited. It's his first day of school and he is beyond ecstatic. He had been waiting for this moment for a whole year now, and when he finally stands here, in front of the school building, backpack on his shoulders and smile as wide as during Christmas, he is starting to feel a bit nervous.

"Hyungie..." a small voice next to him says, tugging on the hand he is holding, fingers intertwined. Jimin turns to look at the shorter boy who has his bottom lip pushed to a pout.

"Yes, Kookie?" The older squeezes their hands as Jungkook keeps eyeing around the schoolyard and the building. His eyes narrow when he sees other first graders running and playing tag with each other, many of the boys being friends with each other already.

Jungkook is still only five, but he feels jealous anyways. Not so much of the fact that his Jiminie hyungie is going to school, but that he is going to get more friends so that Jungkook isn't the only one getting the attention of the older anymore. That's what angers him. He loves Jimin so much and he doesn't want to share. He would much rather share the contents of his cookie jar than his hyung.

"Don't go. I wanna go to your place and play with you," the younger says. Jimin frowns.

"But I have to go, even if I didn't want to. And I really do want to! You know how much I've been wanting to go to school!"

To Jungkook's little brain that feels like a rejection. In his mind, Jimin chooses school over him, and it hurts. He starts crying.

"Kookie, don't cry," Jimin worriedly rushes to hug the smaller tightly. "You can come over as soon as I get home!" He runs his fingers through Jungkook's black hair and kisses the crown of his head. Jungkook sobs as he buries his face in Jimin's chest. Then a big hand is rubbing his back.

"You can stay over the whole day and wait for Jimin at ours, Jungkook!" Taehyung, Jimin's father beams, being as excited and proud as Jimin is about his first day.

It isn't good enough for Jungkook, but he doesn't have a choice. So he lets go of Jimin when the bell rings, watching with eyes filled with disappointment and bitterness as the elder waves before walking inside, leaving Jungkook clutching on Taehyung's shirt, the adult having had to lift the shaking child into his arms.

"I'll call your dad and say you're gonna stay with me for the day, then we can go get ice cream! Would you like that?" Jungkook wraps his arms around Taehyung's neck and nods, feeling himself growing tired from the exhausting morning.

He had wanted to see Jimin off so he had had to wake up quite early to which he wasn't used to. And the crying and jealousy that press his heart don't help the exhaustion. On top of that, he misses Jimin already. He has spent almost every day of his life with the elder, so now that he couldn't anymore, it makes him sad.

He temporarily has fun while eating ice cream with the black-haired male and is able to forget Jimin for a while. The two Kim families were like one big family if you think how much time the kids and the adults spend together.

"Jungkook came over to wait for Jimin!" Taehyung announces as the two walk into the apartment. Yoongi, Jimin's other father, emerges from the living room with a warm smile on his face. Jungkook runs up to the man with light lilac hair and jumps into his embrace.

"Hello, Jungkook!" Yoongi hums, hugging the boy tightly. "Good that you came! I have a task for you, would you like to help Taehyung and empty the laundry machine?" The older adult side eyes his husband who frowns, eyes growing wide and his bottom lip juts out. Puppy faces don't work anymore, Yoongi thinks.

"Yes, sir!" Jungkook salutes, giggling when the lilac-haired man plants a small kiss on his cheek. He takes Taehyung's finger in his hand and drags him toward the bathroom.
