"C'mon, Kookie! Why am I more excited than you?" Jimin shrieks, jumping up and down as his best friend groans and adjusts his backpack straps. The seven-year-old frowns as he lets his happy hyung drag him toward his school, well, their school.
It's Jungkook's first day and he is nervous as hell. Jimin had chosen his backpack and pencil case, as well the pencils, erasers and a ruler with him and Seokjin. Now, Jungkook wears his new sneakers, hand in Jimin's, eyes glaring at the big building he has visited only a handful of times to watch the elder's school plays. School, for Jungkook, means losing his best friend.
"Chim!" a voice shouts from the field, the called boy screaming in happiness before he starts running, leaving a dumbfounded Jungkook standing by himself.
He watches as Jimin bounces up and latches himself on the other boy, hugging him tightly. A few other boys also coming to greet him, the smiles on their faces visible even though the children are far away from Jungkook.
Jimin just forgets him, it seems, as the other doesn't come back to him before the bell rings. With a scowl, Jungkook makes his way inside and into the classroom where a woman guides him. He sits at the back, doing his best to hide.
He glances around. There is about an equal amount of boys and girls, a few of them seemingly friends already, some talking more shyly. No one else is alone. Jungkook sighs and just wants to go home.

His classmates don't talk to him during the breaks. He doesn't have fun, at all. Jungkook can't understand how Jimin has so much fun. The boy had seen the older playing with his friends in the field as he himself sat under a tree, doing nothing.
When lunchtime rolls in, Jungkook sits down on a table far from the cluttered middle, right next to the wall. He feels so alone.
"Kookie!"
Jungkook flinches, almost dropping his glass. Then four trays are set down next to the nearest seats, a chair pulling back and Jimin plops down, his friends sitting around them. The youngest looks warily at his elders around him, slight panic raising in his system as all of them stare at him, as if they waited for him to say something.
"Well?" Jimin beams, hair bouncing as he nudges his donsaeng's shoulder. The others seem expectant.
"Well what?" Jungkook mutters, feeling uncomfortable under the stares. A boy hums, a tone of surprise in his voice.
"He talks!" he exclaims, earning a shush from a teacher. Jungkook's shoulders hunch and he looks down, failing to notice how angrily Jimin glares at the boy.
"Of course he talks!" he retorts, fishing for the younger's hand under the table. With a pout, Jimin defends his best friend. The elder takes great pride in the fact that Jungkook's first word was his name.

The three-year-old Jimin lied on the carpet of the living room, staring at the one-year-old Jungkook who stared back at him, doe eyes sparkling.
Jimin smiled at him, wiggling forward a bit so he could nuzzle his nose with Jungkook's. That emitted a giggle from the baby, as well as some babbling. The elder giggled back, planting a kiss on Jungkook's soft forehead.
"You're so cute, Jungkookie!" he whispered, taking two of the younger's fingers into his mouth as the other reached his hand out to touch Jimin's face.
He could hear his mama and Jungkook's daddy Namjoon talking next to them on the couch, as well as the clattering of utensils and soft laughter from the kitchen where his papa and Jungkook's mommy were cooking.
