Beware of angst hehe~
And just a little warning, this chap has homophobic language.
Jimin could say things got better, more or less. They don't get back to how they were as children, but it isn't as cold anymore. They were able to hang out again without it being too awkward, but there is something off about Jungkook's behavior.
They don't cuddle as much, nor are cheesy, like during that one last summer. Jimin really starts comparing everything to that summer.
Now, Jimin is in his last year of high school, Jungkook on his first. They, once again, study in the same school. The now eighteen-year-old Jimin had feared Jungkook was going to distance himself again, but he hadn't. Their relationship stayed the same it had been the past few years.
Everything was going well (or as well as it possibly could), until one day, Jungkook, once again, was the reason Jimin broke.
It's not like Jimin could prevent it from happening, but he couldn't help the heartbreak. He had forgiven himself for developing deeper feelings for his younger best friend, but he forgot that Jungkook was growing up.
And eventually, would fall in love.
With someone who isn't Jimin.
"Jimin hyungie!"
Jimin turns around at the sound of his name being shouted in the hallway. Seeing Jungkook, he smiles immediately.
"I have something to tell you! Come with me!" Without giving the elder the time to respond, the taller takes a grip on his wrist and pulls him away from Hoseok who just laughs at them.
"Where are we going?" Jimin asks, stumbling as he was being dragged.
"Outside," comes the reply.
Once they are out in the yard, behind a wall so nobody could see them, Jungkook begins jumping up and down, a bright smile on his face. The same kind of smile he used to have a lot. Before either of them went to school.
"Jimin! Jimin! Jiminie!" he exclaims, picking Jimin up and swirling him around. Jimin's heart beats a bit faster than normal.
"What?" he laughs, pushing the younger off.
"Seoyun noona!"
Jimin's smile falls immediately. He's glad the other isn't looking at him. Seoyun is a girl in Jimin's class. The boy doesn't really like her. It always feels like she holds something against him.
"What about Seoyun?" To be honest, Jimin doesn't want to know the answer. He knows what it's going to be.
"She asked me on a date!"
There it is.
Jimin's world crumbles apart. It hurts so bad. Jimin loves his best friend, who now has someone else. Confessing to Jungkook has never been an option for him, he doesn't want to ruin the friendship that has been so difficult to build back. He misses the old, carefree days when he spent every minute of the day with the younger.
"T-that's gr-great!"
Jimin fights back his tears so bad it physically hurts his eyes. It's never hurt so much to smile.
"I was so surprised! Yugyeom and BamBam were in the café with me when she asked! She gave me her number and we talked all night!"
Everything coming out of Jungkook's mouth makes Jimin sick. They used to talk long hours into the night when they couldn't see each other.
