Years fly past and Jimin and Jungkook both grow, the younger more, though. By the time Jungkook goes to middle school, he is half a head taller than Jimin.

During the whole summer vacation the two of them spent together, the taller wouldn't shut up about their height difference. He had picked up a habit of ruffling Jimin's hair and dropping the hyung title, much to the elder's dismay.

"You know, you should start wearing heels," Jungkook once teased, smirking evilly at his hyung who pouted, muttering a brat before walking out of the door.

But then Jungkook starts seventh grade. Jimin is in his last year of middle school and has thought it'd be nice if he'd show the younger around the school and help him adapt to the new building. So, he approaches his dongsaeng who is chatting with his friends, Yugyeom, BamBam, Mingyu, Seokmin, Minghao and, Jaehyun, who all had been in his class since fourth grade.

"Hi, Kookie!" Jimin greets, wrapping his arms around the younger's neck. He doesn't want to think about the fact he has to stand on his tiptoes. Deciding to tease the boy back as a revenge from all the disrespect, he plants a wet kiss on his cheek.

"Ew! Jimin, stop!" Jungkook snarls, pushing the other away and wiping his cheek with the sleeve of his hoodie. Yugyeom and the others laugh as Jimin pouts. They greet their elder who nods in their direction.

"I'm your hyung," he whines, tugging on Jungkook's arm. The taller just rips his limb free and walks away, not saying anything. Jimin stares at him, mouth slightly ajar in shock.

Jimin tries to approach his best friend but he receives the same cold treatment every time. It has been going on for two months already, no interaction whatsoever with the younger. Jungkook always stays quiet during the family dinners, not bothering to pay attention to how Jimin tries to tell him about his upcoming dance performance or not giving a shit about when Jimin compliments him on doing well on a test.

The cold shoulder he's getting is tiring the boy who has just gotten his hair dyed orange. Running his hand through his locks, Jimin sighs and leans on the headboard of his bed, phone in hand as he plays some game. He's startled when he suddenly gets a text from Jungkook.

We'll be over in like, an hour

No hearts, no smiley faces. Jimin frowns. He scrolls up their conversation in July, where the other had spammed him with heart emojis to wake him up so they could meet up. Where did his sweet best friend go? Jimin is hurt.

There isn't much the boy could do about it, but during their summer together, all close and cuddly, something changed. Jimin isn't sure if it was him or the younger, but his heart began beating differently when he was with the taller boy. His laugh and smile sported a blush on the elder's cheeks more times than he'd like to admit. He started paying more attention to Jungkook's touches and he misses the warmth of the other male.

Okay! See you soon!

Jimin resumes to the game, dying immediately when he hit the unpause button. He groans at his lost high score and closes the app as well as his phone. At the same time, though, his screen lights up, showing a new message from the younger.

Tossing his phone disappointedly to the other side of his bed, Jimin gets up and decides he'd help his dad with the dinner prepping, being the good son that he is. He makes his way to the kitchen, following the clatter.
