Once again another tedious walk to the canteen. Recess was upon the hour. No matter it being a period of rest, burdens of epic proportions weigh down my mind to an excruciating point. The cold breeze brushes along my hair as the constant pour of students and their compatriots emerge from their classrooms and into the corridor to join me on this extremely normal walk across the campus.I close my eyes for a moment while my constant steps thump the concrete ground below. A dark featureless world lays before me, footing unbalanced yet monotonous on the pavement.
There with my eyes closed,
Steps take me nowhere
Crowds disapear
Walls around dissolve in the pitch black dark
The urban steps of my shoes on the concrete transition to lively crunches on dirt groundI open my eyes
An empty field of green before me. Long unkept grass brushes against my feet. I run. I run through the fields of freedom, sprinting to a destination unknown. The wind now strong against my face, burdens fade away. With the snap of fingers, the tethers of gravity unlatch from my feet, a burden more, gone. I can touch the clouds that had once been admired from afar, feel the full content of the wind against me, and in the deep dark blue above, I think I see a star...
I float around the endless sky with the wind beneath my feet
Then,
I close my eyes.
A descent downwards begins to play
A relieving thump of my feet on the dirt as I land safely on the grass
The ground goes hard
The whipping air of walls rapidly building up around me graze my skin
The steps and voices of the crowds slowly resurrect around meI open my eyes
Once again, another tedious walk to the canteen...
