Black flowers? Check.

Black suit? Check.

Black casket? Check.

Felix never did like funerals. He never knew what to do at them. Condolences and short greetings being exchanged, and then what? Awkward silences, not knowing what to say as even small talk just felt so wrong.

Guests came and went, saying how sorry they were and Felix was getting extremely sick of that word. He was considering ditching Changbin's funeral. If Changbin were here, Felix knew he'd probably support the idea.

"Please do," Changbin might have said. "Everything is too depressing, having people I barely knew crowding around my casket and gazing pitifully upon me... eugh, I hope they styled my hair nicely at least."

Felix smiled faintly, closing his eyes and imagining Changbin speaking to him, " I really appreciate the effort of you making everything black for me, but can you imagine if my favourite color was pink? That surely would've put the fun in funeral."

Thankfully, Hyunjin's voice dragged Felix back to reality before he could go a little too crazy.

"Ahem," Hyunjin cleared his throat. The microphone screeched a little from the feedback and everyone winced. "Ah sorry..." He scratched his head, clearly nervous.

Hyunjin was standing on a mini makeshift podium where Changbin's family members and closest friends would give their eulogies.

"Seo Changbin was my best friend..." Hyunjin began his testimony and Felix started to zone out. He didn't need to hear things he already knew.

He looked around the garden they were gathered in. The weather was practically perfect, crisp golden brown leaves falling from the trees and a gentle breeze blowing by. But the herd of mourning people dressed in black ruined the picturesque scene. The whole scene was basically a juxtaposition in itself.

Felix knew it was weird to have a funeral in a garden, but he wanted to give Changbin what he couldn't have for the wedding he dreamed of.

"-Felix." He jerked his head up upon hearing his name being called. Everyone was staring expectantly at him and Felix began beating himself up internally for not paying attention.

"Um, you can come up to say your eulogy now." Hyunjin said. Felix widened his eyes in response and quickly nodded, rushing up to the podium.

He looked at the grim faces staring back at him and gulped before starting shakily, "Hi, I'm Lee Felix, Changbin's... boyfriend."

There were audible shocked gasps and whispers from Changbin's relatives who did not know about his sexuality but Felix ignored them and continued. Homophobes were insignificant, especially right now.

"I've never done an eulogy before so pardon me if I do it wrong? I just wanted to say that Changbin was the bravest guy I have ever met. And he cares for people so much more than he should for himself. He thought that he could spare me from years of sadness by hiding his illness and bottling up his own sadness instead. I honestly don't know what was going on in his head to think so, but from this I knew that he loved me and wanted to protect me."

Felix was beginning to feel tears forming and he pursed his lips, willing himself not to cry in front of a crowd.

"We promised each other that we would get married by the age of 27, and I hate that we didn't get to fulfil this promise. Our red string of fate got tangled numerous times as we faced so many complications, yet we never got to tie the knot." Felix averted his gaze to the casket Changbin was lying in behind him.
