Aira’s POV

I entered the hospital. The lights were on as always but it was suspiciously empty and quiet. Nobody was anywhere to be seen and the sound of my feet seemed to disrupt the absence of noise. I didn't know what was going on but it made me edgy and uncomfortable.

I heard something from somewhere behind me and turned around when something flew towards me. I started to scream and turned around while failing to avoid getting hit. I still continued to scream for a couple of moments even while seeing the nurse but after comprehending that I wasn’t in danger the noise died in my throat with a weird sound.

I pulled myself together and managed to pull on a mask of indifference and leaned against the wall.

“You startled me!”

In that moment Joshua burst through the door looking ready for action. He made sue I was alright and got angry afterwards and left. The nurse that before seemed deep in thought now sprung in the action and ran behind him screaming.

“Wait! You still have to…”

I shook my head. I really was in a mental hospital, wasn’t I?

I headed to my room as it was the only thing I could do at the moment and finally let the relief that I was still alive and breathing wash all over me. I was actually able to feel my muscles relax a bit.

I made myself as comfortable as possible on the uncomfortable hospital bed and tried to fall asleep but it was difficult, since I was still worrying about the person that wanted me dead.

I stared at the ceiling for a long time before I finally started to fall asleep but even then I knew my sleep would be far from peaceful. The reality slowly faded away so gently I didn’t even notice when it was replaced with dreams.

She was staring at the ceiling above her head and thought about the uncomfortableness of hospital beds and her eyes started to close. She was almost asleep when suddenly she became aware that there was someone in the room. She didn’t neither see nor hear anyone entering but she just knew she was no longer alone.

She tried to get up to see who is there but she was tied to her bed and she could only move her head around. She still didn’t see anyone.

“Hello? Who is there? Who are you?”

Her voice was unsteady and she sounded scared but she forced herself to put on a brave face and told herself that she was overreacting. There was no one in her room.

But she still had that uncomfortable feeling that someone was standing right behind her.

She laid still and tried to hear the person that was in her room but she only heard her own breathing until she heard a hissing voice filled with fake cheerfulness.

“Time to adjust the medication, dear! Your dose is far, far too low, but don’t worry we will fix that, won’t we? Let’s increase it a bit. An overdose would be such a wonderful way to die, don’t you think? Nevertheless it would take too long and darling, I am getting slightly impatient.”

All of the sudden my pillow was pulled from under me and pressed against my ace. I started to scream and fight the ties, but the ties were strong and the sound of my voice was muffled because of the pillow so nobody knew what was going on. Nobody would come to help me. I tried to take a breath but couldn’t and I started choking and panicking.
