The Accident

Jared woke up one Saturday morning smelling pancakes. He loved pancakes, especially how his mother made them; small like silver dollar pancakes and crisp around the corners. He got dressed quickly and ran downstairs to eat his favorite pancakes. His mother turned around from the stove and asked him if you wanted any pancakes and Jared of course said, "Yes!"

After breakfast Jared called his friend Pedro to see if he could come over to play some video games. Jared said yes and came right over. At about 12 o'clock Jared's mother said, "lunch is ready!" Jared and Pedro went downstairs and had turkey sandwiches with lettuce and tomato and mayo. Pedro complemented Jared's mother on lunch and Jared's mother was touched. After lunch, Jared and Pedro went back to playing video games. They were having so much fun.

Jared's mother went to the boys and told them they should go outside for a little bit at least to get some fresh air and play around the backyard. Maybe play some catch with the baseball. They agreed and went to play some catch. Everything was going well and they were having a lot of fun until Pedro got hit in the arm with the baseball. Jared was worried about Pedro, however, Pedro said he was OK.

Jared told Pedro, "let's go inside to put some ice on your arm." Pedro agreed with him and they got some ice for his arm. Pedro's arm felt a lot better when the ice was on it. He took a big hit, however, he wanted to keep playing baseball with Jared. Jared insisted that he should rest his arm. Pedro listened to Jared and for the rest of the day they watched TV.

Jared's mom came into the room and asked what happened to Pedro. Jared told her that the baseball hit his arm but he immediately put ice on Pedro's arm to make it better. Jared's mother was proud of Jared, however, she insisted on Pedro going home to see if everything is OK with his arm. She said "you never know if you have to go to the hospital."

Jared and Pedro were having so much fun but they knew that it was the right thing to do. Pedro's mom came to pick him up and Jared's mom told her what happened to Pedro and he went to the hospital. Jared was worried about Pedro and wanted to know if he broke his arm or not. Jared's mother told him that he would be able to talk to Pedro in the morning when he was home from the hospital.

The next morning Jared wanted to call Pedro, but Pedro didn't pick up. He tried again and he still didn't pick up the phone. He was worried about what was going on; if he actually came home from the hospital or not and if he was OK. Jared's mother drove him to Pedro's house and when they got there Pedro's mother told them that he was still in the hospital. Jared and his mother went to the hospital to visit Pedro.
