A/N: New chapter!? That's crazy but also kind of shorter than the others, probably the same length as the last one. I'm a bit late on updating, things have not been going too well for me lately . . . I apologize. Anyways, a new chapter, new day and time for me to sleep because it is 1:30 in the morning.
Also, I am not trying to come off as rude in any way at all, I love you guys very much <3

Chapter 23 / Blake's P.O.V
Right now, I couldn't ask for anything better. The issues with my family were pushed to the back of my mind. Since the announcement of my father's release, I still haven't seen him or gone back to New York. The press and magazines have been swarming me with questions about the movie.
I didn't care about that, though; I was solely focused on memorizing my lines. It wasn't surprising when my mother told me she was staying in New York longer. Yes, she's visited in the past three months, but she's never stayed here. I didn't bother asking her what she was doing in New York, but I suspect it has to do with my father.
"Blake? Are you ready?" someone knocked on the door to my room on set.
"In a minute, the makeup crew is touching me up. I'll be out in five minutes!"
I responded, smiling as I stared at my reflection surrounded by gleaming lights. Two people were finishing my makeup while I was already in costume.
"All done. Good luck, Blake," one of them said.
I thanked them and headed to the set. The area was like a maze, but I could easily navigate it by following the director's shouts. I rested my hand on my hip as I stood behind the director, distracted by someone next to me. I turned to see Johnathan, arms crossed, wearing a blue buttoned polo.
"I was never a fan of his attitude, but he's one damn good director," he mumbled with a chuckle.
"Yeah," I replied quietly, then faced him fully. "Let's just get this over with."
I rolled my eyes and walked to my place. Today, we were shooting multiple scenes, so I probably wouldn't be done until late. Thankfully, there weren't any stunts in this movie, and if there were, Johnathan would handle them.
"Places!" the director yelled. "Action!"
Throughout the day, I've been doing what any actress would: working and relaxing. But today, I was kind of out of it, my mind constantly wandering. Luckily, the director didn't chew me out; he just called for breaks. Laurel frequently checked on me, but I ignored her.
Something was holding me back from giving my all in the movie. As I packed up my things on set to take home, I opened the door and searched through my bag for my phone.
"Blake," the director said, standing in front of me. He cleared his throat, and I stopped rummaging. "I know you were a bit off today. You know I want this movie to be iconic, and I need you to bring your best. I know Margaret would want that too. If you ever need anyone to talk to, I'm here." He patted my shoulder and walked off.
Dragging my feet, I exited the set. I didn't want to talk to him or show any weakness. This movie is a lifelong dream—why would I throw that away? Nova has been busy with her movie and traveling nonstop. Meanwhile, I've been in California, and three months of hard work is starting to feel dull. Maybe this lifelong dream isn't what I wanted.
