You woke up next to a sleeping Ruby. He looked so peaceful and angelic. You decided to let him be and you made your way to the bathroom which he had previously showed you earlier last night shortly before the lustful hours you had spent together.
As you made your way to the kitchen you heard a loud clash of dishes and some aggressive mumbling. You peered into the kitchen to see if you should notify Ruby or not but to your surprise it was just $crim.
You decided to let $crim be due to the fact that he was obviously pissed about something and that 'something' may or may not be about you. You quietly made your way to the bathroom and gently closed the door behind you.
Holy fuck I look like shit. You thought to yourself as you looked in the mirror. You had last nights makeup everywhere on your face. You decided it was best that you washed your face and prepared yourself to silently leave the house before anymore drama could start.
After you washed your face you got a little too curious and started looking around to distract yourself from the anxiety you were currently experiencing.
As you looked around you came to an unexpected halt when you heard yelling in the kitchen. It sounded like $crim had woken up Ruby and things didn't sound to good out there.
"ODDY I FUCKING TOLD YOU NOT TO TAKE HER HOME" $crim shouted. "IT'S NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL DUDE SHE'S COOL" Ruby responded. "That's what you said about the last one and she left you down in the dumps for months man, you know you can't risk that shit." $crim responded a bit calmer than before but there was still anger in his voice.
You gently cracked the door open enough to see what was going on but not enough for them to notice. You saw Ruby just standing there with his head down clearly upset about what $crim had just said. $crim just looked at him, sighed, put a hand on his shoulder and said in a calm tone "look man I love you I'm only trying to look out for you like you do for me, I need my fucking cousin.. I can't do this alone" He pulled Ruby in for a hug and walked outside.
You decided this would be a good time to text Sam and tell her to come pick you up.
You: hey can you come pick me up?
*5 minutes later*
You: Sam
*15 minutes*
You: ughhh Sam come on answer
You decided it'd be best to just call her so you did. It rang for about a second.
"Sam where the fuck are you and why aren't you answering m-" before you could finish you were interrupted by a drunken Meth. "shhhh" he said shushing a girl who sounded like Sam that was giggling in the background. "Meth ?" You said still confused to why he would be picking up the phone and not your friend. "Oh ummm yeah hi Sam can't pick up the phone right now
she's busy gotta go bye later" he said obviously anxious to get off the phone.
You figured they hooked up after a long drunken night of partying and it was purely because of how intoxicated they both were and shook it off. But you were still stuck in Ruby & $crim's home when $crim had made it obvious that you weren't welcome here.
You decided to download Uber to save the awkwardness of having to ask Ruby or $crim for a ride home.
As you were requesting for an Uber , you heard a gentle knock on the door and heard the door creak open a bit wider. "Hey... um can I come in" Ruby said staring down at the floor. You could tell he was still upset about what $crim had mentioned earlier.
"um.. yeah" you said shooting him a concerned look. "So um I'm sure you heard me and $crim and I just wanted to say tha-" before he could finish you cut him off. "It's fine... you don't have to explain anything to me I understand where he was coming from.. I overstepped my boundaries and I apologize..." you said staring at the floor nervous to even make eye contact with him.
"well um do you wanna maybe go somewhere...?" He asked clearly avoiding eye contact with you. You were confused. Is this like a normal thing? Get screamed at by your cousin for taking some random chick home then take her out again? -- but you still politely accepted his offer.
You fixed your hair and proceeded to walk out of the bathroom. As you exited you were unexpectedly greeted with a soaring pile of clothes which ultimately ended up hitting your face.
"what the f-" you said in confusion before you were cut off by Ruby. "I didn't know what you liked so I just kinda grabbed everything that would fit...I figured you'd wanna change" he said.
You went back into the bathroom and looked through all of the clothes. You ultimately decided to wear a larger tie dye shirt that read 'Gnarcotic' on it with your black skinny jeans and an orange hoodie that read 'GREYFIVENINE' on it with a gun.
You exited the bathroom and made your way to the living room where you greeted by an occupied Ruby. He looked up from his phone and looked at you and smiled. "you look cute" he said still smiling. "thanks" you replied while feeling your cheeks turn a rosy red.
"So you ready?" He asked still gazing at you. "Um yeah but where are we going?" you responded. "it's a surprise now come on" he said while grabbing your hand and exiting out the front door of the house.
You and Ruby headed to the same older white Mercedes benz you had been in last night and you were off.
For the first 10 minutes you sat in the car just observing the landscape in silence while Ruby drove paying full attention to the road. Ruby finally decided to speak up and break the silence.
"so um everything you told me last night ...was real right?" He asked. You could tell that he was nervous and you could feel his eyes burning through you. "what do you mean?" You asked curiously. "Like your town, New Orleans, the air, just everything" he responded. "yeah why wouldn't it be?" You asked. "I don't I just have had people before who would tell me stuff like that but they weren't real... I guess I was just curious" he responded.
Soon the car had come to a halt and
Ruby let out a huge sigh before informing you that you guys were here.
As you got out of the car you observed the scenery of the location. You seemed to be parked in an abandoned parking lot somewhere in New Orleans.
Ruby got out and laid down on the hood of his car, you soon followed suit.
You got a little too curious as your mind wandered off while looking at the stars above and decided to be bold and ask him about earlier. "So... what was the whole 'last one' thing with $crim about earlier... you don't have to tell me I'm just confused by what he meant..." you said trying not to come off rude.
"last one?" He asked sounding confused. "When you and $crim were having an argument earlier and he mentioned 'the last one' I noticed you got really ...upset... I just wanted to know what it meant..." you responded. He let out a sigh, obviously dreading the topic but started to explain which took you by surprise.
"...there was this girl who I was completely in love with. Like I had never felt this way about anyone before...and we were good for awhile but eventually everything fell apart... we started getting into arguments, she started cheating, it was bad. She broke my heart and I moped for about year. That's why $crim wasn't too keen on me taking you home." He explained. "Oh...um I'm sorry... I shouldn't ha-" you said before he cut you off. "It's fine don't worry about it" he said.
"So what about you? Ever had your heart broken?" He asked. "Um... once or twice" you replied. "How was it?" He asked. "It sucked.. but 12 year old me eventually got over it" you responded. He just laughed and continued staring at the stars.
