It's been a week since you and Ruby had hung out. You still saw him most days due to the fact that Max was Sam's roommate and also because most nights Meth would be there because of the secret "relationship" him and Sam were having which wasn't really a secret to you and Max.
You and Max tried to ignore it most days but sometimes you guys would tease Sam about the situation and she'd just deny it and change the subject.
Unfortunately, when you and Max decided to tease her today she brought up a dreaded topic that no one was excited to discuss.
"Why are you ignoring Ruby?" she asked.
Uh uh uh. You were shocked that she would even bring that up. Right here in front of one of his best friends who was guaranteed to report your answer back to Ruby.
You decided to play dumb.
"What do you mean?" You asked.
"I mean, you two obviously hit it off, and all of the sudden you just kinda... ghosted him...every time he comes here you always go to your room or you're 'busy'...what happened?" She explained.
You knew it would be obvious but you didn't think it would be that obvious.
"I don't know.." You mumbled looking down at the kitchen counter.
"Well I gave him your number.. so expect a text" she said while walking out of the kitchen.
You sighed and continued to stare at the counter trapped in your own thoughts.
Maybe she's right maybe you shouldn't have ghosted him...but it was for the best... right?
I mean this way nobody got hurt..and everything could go back to normal.
You decided it was getting late and that it was time for you to get some rest so you got up and made your way to your room but before you could exit the kitchen Max called you back in.
"Y/N" he said anxiously.
"Yes?" You asked curious of what he had to say.
"Talk to him please" he said.
You just nodded and proceeded to go to your room.
You plugged your phone in and slept.
You woke up to a loud crash coming from the outside of the house. You checked your phone to see what time it was.
3:31 am.
You had a bunch of texts and missed calls from a number that wasn't saved in your contacts.
Shit.
You knew exactly who it was and who was at the door. You sighed and made your way to the front door.
You opened the door and as you expected Ruby was there.
"oH hEy youu." He said.
He reeked of alcohol.
You sighed and directed him into the living room and sat him down on the couch.
It was a challenge because he kept tripping over his feet and practically almost fell on you.
"What are you doing here?" You asked sounding annoyed.
"I wanted to.. I wanted. .to...to sssssee you..." He slurred.
You sat in silence thinking of how to respond.
Part of you wanted to let him in and disregard what $crim had said. The other part of you wanted to call $crim and let it be his issue.
Before you could respond your thoughts were interrupted by Ruby.
"why.. Have you been ignoring me?" He asked.
He looked like he was about to cry.
Fuck don't cry don't cry.
" what? " You said playing dumb like you did before.
But you knew he didn't believe it for a second.
"I mean... ever sssince last week you haven't talked to me... Whenever I'd ask Sssam or ... Max if you wanted to come hang out..you'd always say you were busy or something.. I just need to know if I'm wasting my time or not..." He explained.
" I just have a lot of shit going on right now that I need to deal with... " you replied.
Which wasn't technically a lie you were still looking for a job and the last thing that was or should've been at least on your mind was romance.
"okay... I just needed to know..." He said while standing up to walk out and head back to his car.
" wait.. Where are you going? " You asked concerned and curious about what he was going to do next.
"Home" he said with no emotion.
"You can stay here" you responded anxiously.
"no thanks" he said now making his way down the front porch while lighting up a square.
"Aristos please" you said feeling your heart start to pump faster and faster.
You grabbed his arm and spun him around so he was facing you.
He looked at you with a full expression but you could see the tears starting to stream down his face. You wiped them off his cheek and pulled him in for a hug.
At first he didn't hug you back but after a minute or so he held you tight and began to sob.
It killed you to see him this way.
You grabbed his hand and took him back to your room and comforted him until he fell asleep.
