Chapter {9}
"Miss Bellefleur?"
"Yes?"
"Late again. So sad. No University for you."
"What?"
* Ring * Ring *
Oh, the alarm clock. Can't be late, can't be late. Can't. BE. LATE! I showered and got dressed in a fury. I threw on purple jeans and a bright blue old band T-shirt. Late, late, late! I checked the clock, 10 minutes to go! Make-up time! Lip gloss and mascara are all that I have time for today. I grab my backpack and rush towards the door, and almost forget the new purse I got yesterday. Luckily, I took the time to switch out my old purse for my new one last night. I ran to the car without even stopping to eat anything, and shoved the key into the ignition. I sped off to school.
It took me awhile, but it finally sunk in that it's Friday! Hooray. I parked and took the steps two at a time, nearly tripping twice. I kept up my pace all the way to my locker, and to class. Made it!
I took my usually seat beside Chenisse. Luke was already here, too. We got comfortable and chatted away. My friends gave me a talk about how getting to school on time really was a priority, especially with my late-record. The bell rang. Everyone was silent as some guy walked in and wrote his name on the board.
Mr. Snow
Interesting. He turned around and my jaw dropped. Edmund. The guy from the mall. At my school. Whoa, am I still dreaming? I mean, having a nightmare?
"Hello everyone. I am Mr. Snow, as you can clearly see." He pointed to the board. "Your regular teacher won't be returning for the rest of the year. Taking a vacation I guess. I hear teaching can be a very stressful job." He winked, directly at me. I swallowed hard.
"But math is my specialty. So, can someone tell me what you've been learning this week? Maybe we can review?"
Some kid in the front raised her hand. "Algebra, sir."
"Oh. Okay. Well, there were some algebra worksheets on my desk. I guess that explains it then." He walked over, picked them up, and started handing them out.
When he got to me, he paused. "We've met, haven't we?"
"Yeah." I said weakly. "At the mall? Yesterday?"
"Oh! That's right. I can't believe I forgot. Well it's nice to meet see you again, Abbigail." Edmund smiled.
"Same, Mr. Snow." He looked a little taken aback, but quickly recovered.
"Yah. Need any help?" He look at me earnestly.
"No, I'm actual--" I started to say, before Chenisse stepped hard on my foot under the desks. So I said, "yes, this one right here. I just don't get it." He crouched down and explained the question I was pointing to slowly. I was gazing at him, and he looked at me every once and a while. Wow, he has nice eyes. They're light blue, almost lilac. He has beautiful wavy-blond hair, I could only imagine running my fingers through it.
"Understand know?" Mr. Snow asked, standing up again.
"Yeah, thanks Edmund." I warmly smiled up at him.
"Just let me know if you need anything... else." He lingered a few seconds more before turning to walk back to his desk. I looked over at a stunned Chenisse and Lucas.
"What. Was. That?" Chen squealed quietly.
"Nothing." I blushed. "It was that same guy from the mall yesterday, remember? I was just being friendly."
"More than friendly, if you ask me." Lucas raised his eyebrows.
I stuck my tongue out and got back to work, head bent.
