Chap 8 ! <3

~Author's note~

I put it @ the end of the first chapter after I edited it, but just in case y'all didn't see it....

Chenisse is pronounced something like Shen-niece.

RECAP: I sat down at our usual table. Lucas joined us. There was a collective gasp from somewhere in the room and heads turned, trying to find the source. I looked towards the east entrance of the cafeteria. Standing there was the one person who, for almost two years now, I saw only in my nightmares.

* * * * * * *

HER. That .. hateful person. She made my life miserable. When I found out her family was moving away for her father's job, (almost two years ago) I was ecstatic. Yet, here she was again. Riley Hawthorn. She looked completely different, of course. Now her hair was jet black, and pinned back to highlight her strong jawline. She was wearing heels that must be at least 5" tall. Who wears that kind of thing to school? Her crowd of former followers were already flocking over to her. Some things never change. The leader and her pack.

It took me this long, but I was almost over her name calling. I had practically forgotten her nasal laughter. Seeing her again made me sick. Literally. I got up and fast-walked to the restroom. What if she sees me? What if she recognizes me? I opened the pearl white stall and sat on the toilet, lid down. Of course she'll know who I am! My Ex-Best friend who's favorite thing to do was to make fun of me. I could almost hear her now.

"Where's your boyfriend now, Abbigail? Probably saw you for what you really are, a loser. He took off as fast as he could, huh? Poor, poor little Abbigail. All alone. No friends. Wah, wah, wah."

And again. "What are you wearing? Black on black, accented with black?? That color isn't even IN this season. It's freaken spring. Get a hold of yourself." Then evil laughter. Yep. The memories are pretty dang clear. What am I going to do?

"Abbi? You there?" Chenisse's voice echoed through the large bathroom.

"In here.." I replied.

"Oh! Come on out, it's okay. I'm sure she doesn't even remember you!"

"Ha."

"Humor me. Please?"

"Oh.. fine." Reluctantly, I unlocked the door and sluggishly walked out of the roomy stall. "Better?" I snapped, then broke down, snot and tears and all that. I yanked some toilet paper off the roll and blew my nose, waiting for her to say something.

"Let's go." Huh?

"Where Chenisse?" I sniffled.

"To your house."

"I'm driving. Give me your keys. Now."

"K-kay. But where?" Anywhere but class. Now I know I can't be late again, but in this school, they don't classify being late for class and being late for morning bell as the same thing. So.. I'm safe. We calmly walked back upstairs to our lockers and collected our things.

When we finally got to my car, Chenisse stuck out her hand, palm side up. After a couple seconds, she rolled her eyes and said, "KEYS". Oh. I dug them out of my pocket and handed them to her. I dragged myself over to the passenger side. I dug around in the front dash and got some old (unused) napkins to blow my nose with. I looked over at my friend with an attempted smile. We drove off.

"Holy jumping nuts, Chen. I can't believe she's back."

"I know. It's okay. It'll be okay. Just a sec. I have to make a quick stop." She swerved the car to the right and parked in front of a small convenience store. Out she came not 10 minutes later with two full bags. She put them in the back seat, not giving me a chance to glimpse at their contents. I sighed dramatically and blew my nose again. She gave me a sly smile and off we went again.
