Chapter {10}
~Recap~
"Ohmygosh yes!" I played right along. "I noticed you in Mr. Snow's class."
"Oh, him. Isn't he the hottest?" She gushed. Gushed?! We haven't seen each other in years, and we parted on terrible terms! This girl had no right to 'gush' to me.
"Yeah, he's okay."
"Do you think.. is he single?"
In a strained voice, I replied,"Oh I don't think so. He talked about some beautiful girl the other day. He was saying how he was thinking about asking her out on a date. Cute, really."
Her giggle was disgusting. SHE was disgusting. "Oh, well." Then she was gone. Not instantaneously, she just walked away.
I wonder what is going on in that girl's head. I know one thing, I'm going to find out.

"You guys are just awful, you know that?" Luke said with a twinkle in his eyes.
"What? You were laughing right along with us!" I fake-gasped my accusation.
"Well, Mrs. Doe does have a very shrill, annoying voice. You captured it perfectly."
I smiled triumphantly. Mocking teachers is a specialty of mine.
Chenisse jumped in "I thought I was a very convincing Mr. Kang."
"Oh, you were sweetheart. You just aren't as pro as Abbigail, here." Whoa, sweetheart? Since when was Luke calling Chenisse his 'sweetheart?'. I turned to raise my eyebrows at her, which earned me a nervous blush. Luke seemed to realize exactly what he said, and his cheeks turned scarlet.
"Oh, awkward.." I fought to contain my smile. "I'm going to go get some chocolate milk. Be right back." I stood up quickly and walked away from the table, before either of them could protest. I'm sure to anyone who was looking at me, I must have seem crazy. Because I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. Chenisse and Luke would be so cute--
"Hello, Abbigail." Mr. Snow, who wasn't there a second ago, said right next to me. He was wearing the most handsome dark blue button down shirt.
"H-hi." Okay. That kiss thing? Mistake. He's cute and smart and nice, but he's my teacher! "Listen, Edmund. I need to talk to you." I pleaded with my eyes.
"Oh. Well I'll be in my class until 4:00 about class." he winked. My stomach was doing back flips, but not the good kind.
"Yah, sure. That works for me."
"Good. See you then." Those were his departing words as he left the cafeteria. I've got a 'date' with my math teacher. Great.
When I got back to the table, Chenisse and Luke were staring at me with big eyes.
"What?" I snapped. Chenisse looked away, but Luke kept looking at me intently.
"You forgot your chocolate milk.. ?"
"Oh. I guess I got distracted." I said absentmindedly.
"Well--"
Chenisse cut him off. "What was that about? With Mr. Snow?"
"Nothing. I was just asking him about something." As hard as I tried not to, my voice cracked twice. She dropped the subject. I nervously pulled on the hem of my purple Marianas Trench t-shirt.
Later, in class, Chenisse whispered that while I was gone getting 'chocolate milk', she had asked Luke if he was going to the dance.
"He nodded and asked me if I had a date!" She whisper-squealed in my ear. "Of course I said no.. then he asked if I would consider going with him. I told him I didn't have to consider it, it was a definite yes." She was blushing and fanned herself with her hand. "That boy is so cute."
