↯ Mike's Point of View ↯
My chest heaved up and down. Silent tears rolled down my cheeks and my fingers tapped nervously on my knees. My eyes kept darting back and forth along the floor, trying to count the number of specks built into the tile.
Dustin and Lucas were sitting next to me, quiet, sleeping. I have no idea how they manage to be so calm in a situation such as this. But all I can do is smile and watch Dustin snore lightly, his hat sliding off of his head as Lucas' hands ran through his hair, unconsciously.
What if that were Will and I?
I sniffed, shaking my head to clear the thought.
So much was happening that it was all just too hard to keep track of. What, with Will just being rescued, with kissing El, with her disappearing, and still struggling to figure out my sexuality. I just need some emotional support. As soon as I heard the door to 'the room' open my head shot up. I'm sure that my heartbeat is five times its normal rate by now.
Jonathon came out and smiled at me, nodding.
I jumped out of my seat and shoved Lucas and Dustin awake, yelling at them that Will had finally woken up.
I practically shot into the room, my smile breaking out as I saw him.
How can he manage to look so beautiful when everything is so... everything is just going so badly?
"BYERS!" I yelled, immediately plunging him into a hug, my ears immune to Joyce's warnings of 'be careful'. Lucas, and then Dustin soon group hugged him with me, but we eventually had to pull away. He needed to have his own space.
Lucas and Dustin then shot their mouths off, telling Will the most important parts of what happed when he was gone. They were interrupted, though, by his small, fragile coughs. I wanted to go back and hug him, run my hands through his hair whisper into his ear that everything would be alright. But I couldn't, and I knew that, so I kept my respectful distance.
"It got me," Will said, his excited expression turned morbid. "The Demogorgon."
I gave him a soft smile. "We know. It's okay. It's dead. We made a new friend," I said, desperately trying to brighten the mood. "She stopped it. She saved us. But she's gone now." I could see Will nod the slightest, and though I knew that I didn't feel anything in the kiss, I couldn't help but miss her.
"Her name's Eleven," Dustin spoke up. "Like the number?" Will questioned. "Well, we call her 'El' for short," Lucas jumped in.
"She's basically a wizard."
"She has super powers."
I smiled. "More like a Yoda."
"She flipped a van with her mind, and- and, these agents were trying to shoot us, then she squeezed their brains out! And- blood was pouring out of their faces... shot out of the wall..."
The three of us recalled the exciting battle scene moments that we had with Eleven. I could see the smile on Will's face, but it didn't reach his eyes.
I frowned at this.
What was wrong?
