THIRD POV
The pair entered S.T.A.R. LABS and immediately took the two seats closest to the mannequin that used to hold the suit of the Flash (which was now empty). They looked around the room and saw faces all seeking answers. They took a deep breath. This wasn't going to be easy. For either of them.
Joe saw their uneasy faces, worried that if set off they will just shut down and then nothing will be shared. He wanted to know what had happened just as much as everyone else but he knew something. This was going to have to be approached very, very carefully. So that's what he did, "We're all very glad you're back son but...what's happened in the last five years?"
BARRY POV
Barry knew that this was coming but he certainly didn't want to address it. He couldn't stand to see the way it hurt Caitlin. His Caitlin. But... just once. It had to be done. He didn't know how he would be looked at afterwards. he didn't know what their reaction would be. he only knew what happened and that no matter what he had the most important person by his side. He let out a sigh. "Before we begin I must warn you. Things have happened that will be incomprehensible. Things have happened to me that you won't want to imagine. I have done things that you won't want to imagine." He saw them all wince slightly. They would be doing that a lot more throughout this story. He shuddered and felt a hand on his, from his Caitlin, silently but definitely reassuring him. He swallowed his doubts. He must do this. He continued.
"I'll start where all of this started - the singularity. It turns out that it wasn't just a singularity, but a breach. it is a portal to travel the multiverse. One breach is a link between two worlds. This breach lead to another one on Earth-2, the Earth that Killer Frost here is from."
He let that sink in for a minute. Stein was the first to respond, "Wait, so the multiverse theory is true?" He decided to let his Caitlin handle that, not that he had a chance otherwise since she responded so quickly, "You're looking at the proof right now." That shut him up. Then the inevitable question arrived, from Caitlin of all people, "wait, Killer Frost?" He decided to answer this before his Caitlin made things worse. "Ex super-villain, current anti-hero and full time cryokinetic metahuman." Everyone took this alright, considering the circumstances, apart from a light mutter of "how are you my doppelganger?" from, well... that's self explanatory.
"When I collapsed the singularity on this side it shut off both sides. I fell through, devoid of energy and barely able to keep conscious. and immediately landed on the other side-"
"After you fell over from a breach in the sky!" an icy voice interjected. We had never talked about this and for good reason - neither of us wanted to! I started to rub the back of my neck sheepishly, "Ouch, I guess that's why I felt all of those bones breaking. Either way I didn't stay conscious for long. First and last time I've felt lucky to have landed in a super-villain's lair. Without Frost here, I would be a pile of snapped bones on the floor on earth-2"
Killer Frost picked up here to tell them what happened next, what even I didn't know. What no-one knew but her, "After he fell from the sky he landed just outside my lair. I went outside and saw him lying there. His suit was ripped in so may places. His limbs bending in many different directions they shouldn't. He had passed out as I walked out and saw hi All in all he had about 50 broken bones, was running extremely low blood sugar, he had many pulled muscles and he was overtired. I ended up having to basically keep him cryogenically frozen until I had properly set all of his bones. He was in a coma after that for a few weeks while his body repaired its self."
The temperature in the room was slowly dropping throughout her recount of what had happened. I noticed and placed my hand on hers, reminding her that I am alive and here and not the body in the crater. Ever since we became close we never spoke about this day and we have never discussed it fully. Even back then when she was a cold-hearted ice queen we could never bring ourselves to discuss it fully. I know that right now all she can see is the dead looking body of her husband in the crater so I know this calming gesture will reassure her and reminder her that I am alive and that she was about to freeze every one else in the room to death by accident. The temperature returned to normal and Barry continued to retell his time on Earth-2 .
"Once we had discussed everything that had happened we came to the conclusion that I was on the wrong Earth. It was an unlikely partnership, a superhero and a supervillain but somehow we made it work. We had to. We were in fact on the same side. Either you were with Zoom or against Zoom."
He could see by their faces that they hadn't heard of Zoom. That was one topic he did not want to cover. Joe was the one to speak up, "Who's Zoom?" echoing the thoughts of everyone else in the room. Barry turned to the side and looked at his Caitlin, who was looking at him as if to say, 'are you sure you want to talk about this,' to which he responded with a look that said, 'I'm sure.'
"Zoom was a speedster on Earth-2. He had an all black costume with a demonic looking mask. He was quite literally a speed demon. He was sick from using a speed drug called Velocity-9 to enhance his natural speed and needed natural speed-force to enhance his speed while curing his sickness. He is also the murderer of Henry Allen of Earth-1."
KILLER FROST POV
I put my hand over Barry's and gave it a squeeze while radiating a light chill. I know how he feels about this particular area and he could be provoked just as easily as me when talking about it. Joe was the one to ask the wrong question, "But, how can you be sure? All we know is that he escaped about three and a half years ago. And how did you find out? Why are you so sure it's Zoom? How did he come and get him a whole universe away?" I had to handle this for him as he will do something he will later regret, "How does he know? Zoom killed his father in front of him! For what? Just to try and turn Barry into a monster like Zoom." Barry picked up from here, trying to steer the topic away from his father's death.
"Now is probably an appropriate time to discuss your doppelgangers as they all have something to do with the battle against Zoom. Bear in mind that Earth-2 is basically the opposite of this Earth. My doppelganger was director of CCPD CSI division with two very alive and well parents and married to Iris's doppelganger - Iris West-Allen and famous detective at CCPD. Both currently alive." No-one spoke a word at this once they saw my obvious scowl at the fact that any version of Barry loved another person other than another version of me. "Joe you're doppelganger was a singer, dislikes my doppelganger and is currently dead and of four and a half years ago. Stein, your doppelganger I didn't directly meet but you were one half of Deathstorm but you're mind was suppressed by that of Ronnie Raymond of Earth-2. You were just a vessel for the F.I.R.E.S.T.O.R.M. matrix and nothing else and died along with Deathstorm. Ronnie's doppelganger was, putting it simply, a jerk. He died when Deathstorm did." I thought I'd cut in here and add a bit more information as Barry missed a bit due to pleasantries, "Couldn't take no for an answer. Even when I wasn't single. Killing him was a relief." Barry gave me a glare as if to say 'these are my friends' before continuing, "Cisco, your doppelganger was evil as well. Had awesome superpowers but was evil. Also dead. Caitlin, well you're doppelganger is in front of you."
We let that soak in for a while. Everyone here on my earth I disliked in some way, some more than others. It takes a lot not to kill Deathstorm's doppelganger right now. Barry continued, "Your doppelgangers all had some part to play in the fight against Zoom, and not only against him. Now, you need to know what happened. You need to know about the fight against Zoom."
