Ch. 15- Cracked

A loud knock sounded on the door to the shadows' room. ShaBonnie opened his eyes a little, somewhat annoyed. It was pretty late at night, he was trying to sleep. The knocks continued. The bunny sighed, gently pushing ShaFreddy's arm off of himself, and standing up, taking care to not wake the sleeping bear.

ShaBonnie walked over to the door, opening it to see Mari outside. She was crying. And... bleeding?

No. Oh. No. He did not. Not her. That was it. This was too far. Enough was enough.

"Nightmare?" ShaBonnie growled the name, his question being more of a statement since he already knew the answer. Who else would do this kind of thing? Wait a second... she was bleeding? But... she had a mask on... ShaBonnie studied  the marionette's face. His eyes widened at what he saw.

Mari nodded in response to what ShaBonnie had said, but immediately gasped in pain. She almost fell, but managed to somehow stay on her feet. Even in the low light level, the damage was obvious. Almost the entire length of Mari's mask was cracked, creating a jagged line across her face, extending from just over her left eye to the bottom edge of her lower lip. Mari swayed again; she was losing consciousness from the blood loss. Without warning, she collapsed into shabonnie's arms, almost flat out crushing him entirely under her weight (He's a smol boi ok :3).

Across the room, ShaFreddy stirred a bit. Great. That was what the bunny was trying to avoid. But hey, he kinda did need the help.

"ShaBonnie?" The bear murmured sleepily, looking around a bit, after finding the space next to him empty.

"Over here." The bunny replied.

After a moment, ShaFreddy finally saw what was going on. Within seconds, he was on his feet, taking Mari's weight in his own arms, allowing ShaBonnie movement again.

As ShaFreddy assisted Mari with her wound, ShaBonnie dialed Nicky's number. His younger brother picked up on the second ring.

"What." Nicky was clearly upset at the moment.

"Do you by chance know about"

"Yes." Nicky snapped coldly. From the current lack of any warmth, fake or not, in his voice, ShaBonnie could tell that the bunny had been drinking. That was a bad sign. He took a breath before continuing.

"First, put the fucking alcohol away. Second, you need to-"

"Don't tell me what to fucking do. I can take care of myself." Nicky growled.

ShaBonnie was starting to lose his temper. He wasn't sure why, but he had a very low amount of patience on this subject anymore. Escalating this was the worst idea right now, but fuck it, why did it matter? It's not like anyone was ACTUALLY doing anything to fix this hell hole of a problem.

"Really? Then why do you let him treat you that way instead of standing up for yourself?" Mistake. Big mistake. This was a bad idea. Ever. Not just right now.

"Maybe because I would like to stay ALIVE, THANKS."

"Well. Fine. But don't go expecting ANY HELP from me if this goes poorly for you. I wanted to help you, Nicky. But you've gotten it to the point where I CANT. So you know what, I won't try. Have fun figuring this out on your own."

Without another word he hung up the phone. After a few moments, he dialed Bonnie.

"Hey, ShaBonnie," Bonnie's voice said almost immediately, though he sounded distracted. Probably by Freddy.

"Hey. I'm not... interrupting anything, am I?" The bunny smiled, imagining the current scene. Bonnie was definitely hanging out with Freddy, and the brunette was most certainly not too pleased with their time together being interrupted.

"According to Freddy, you are, but he can wait a second, so tell me what you need." Bonnie snickered a little, before squeaking as Freddy lightly whacked him on the head.

"I was just wondering if you were ok, that's all." ShaBonnie did want to know something else, but he wasn't gonna interrupt the pair's time together to just upset Bonnie again. He had to keep Freddy at least only partially annoyed with him. In a mostly playful way.

"We're fine." ShaBonnie could hear Freddy complaining somewhat loudly on the other end, as Bonnie was attempting to squish the bear to make him shut up.

"Ok. That's good. I was kinda worried, after... the last mall trip... and stuff..."

"No. No. We're good, we're good." Bonnie giggled a little, trying to get Freddy to stop tickling him. God they were acting like children. But hey, he knew what it was like.

"Ok. I'll leave you two children alone now. Don't accidentally set anything on fire, okay?" ShaBonnie snorted.

"Hey! I'm not you." Bonnie squeaked indignantly. They both knew all too well about the time Shabonnie had accidentally almost burned down half of the pizzeria a few years ago just because he was too distracted by ShaFreddy and the lovey dovey shit to being paying full attention to what he was doing.

"Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We'll see about that." ShaBonnie smiled. Why couldn't dealing with Nicky be as fun and entertaining as dealing with Bonnie, or Clyde for that matter?

Maybe it was because it was like dealing with himself, only less stable and more untrusting of everyone. That was a bad combination.

Nicky hadn't learned to hide his feelings the same way that ShaBonnie did. His younger brother  hid them, somewhat; but also in a way that was dangerous to his health. ShaBonnie had always been able to slip into the shadows and be alone- he could hide. Nicky couldn't. But he wasn't managing himself properly. But he still hid.

————————-

No seriously though, ShaBonnie is short. He's like only 5' 1" or something in my au. Why? Because ShaFreddy is tall (like 6'2") and that height difference is funny. Also other reasons that I'll get to later :3
