(From this point onwards it's first person)
Finnick
I stepped into the dark room. Apparently they were bringing me here for extra therapy. Of course, I didn't believe a word of it. It was obviously just an extra chance for propo. But why would they want me, of all people, to do propo? Why not choose someone that suffered bad, went through hell and came back alive? Why not Annie, or Katniss, or Johanna?
A scream pierced the air. I screamed too. I dropped my trident, frantically searching for the light. I reached the light and turned it on, gasping for air.
I turned my head. My eyes widened as I stared in terror at the knife pointed at my face. The knife stayed at my eye level for a moment or two, and then it was lowered. I stared, confused, at the wielder.
"What was THAT for?" I asked Katniss Everdeen, shocked that she would've pointed a knife at my face.
"Sorry! I thought you were like, a-a Capitol freak!" Katniss said, her face full of regret.
My face fell. "Well, then, I guess you were right."
Katniss looked perplexed. "What do you mean? You're not a Capitol freak! Well at least the part of you I know isn't."
"Well, then you don't know me at all." I told her. "For years, the Capitol's been selling my body to rich weirdos in the Capitol. I don't get money, though. I'm paid in secrets." My voice lowered to a hush.
"Aaaand cut!" A voice yelled from behind me. I jumped.
"That was beautiful, you two!" Cressida, our camerawoman said happily. "But we've run into a slight problem. Katniss, word got out that Peeta choked you. They think he hates you. They think YOU hate him. Who knows why?" Cressida tells us seriously.
"And you called me here because...." I asked her.
"You have to pretend to be in love with Katniss." Cressida said.
Won't be hard, I thought. I looked over at Katniss. Her face was expressionless. I turned back to Cressida and nodded. "I'll do it."
"So, Katniss, you have to reject his love. Spurn his advances." Cressida continued.
Great, I thought, how much easier can this propo get?
"Three, two, one, ACTION!"
I took a deep breath. "But Katniss, I love you!"
Katniss turned away from me. "I don't care. I love Peeta, and no one else. You wouldn't even have a chance."
I know, I thought, hurt.
"I love you." I said again.
"I don't care. The Mockingjay loves no one but Peeta." Katniss said, her hard stare fixing on me. I felt myself melting under it.
"Cut." Cressida's voice saved me.
I let out a sigh of relief. Katniss turned to me and said, "I'm sorry. That stuff I said back there, it was mean. But I meant it."
"I know you did. I know you meant all of it. I wouldn't- no one would stand a chance." I don't know what made me so mad, but I stormed off.
I barged out of the rehab room, fuming. Johanna Mason turned her head. Why was she still here? Doesn't she have some sense of decency?
"Finnick. What's wrong?" Johanna asked.
"Nothing." I grumbled, and left. I looked back once, to see Johanna Mason's confused face looking at me.
"Finnick, wait!" Katniss was trying to catch up to me. I just kept walking. Katniss tried again.
"Katniss, it's okay. I get it." I muttered. I slammed the door on her.
Katniss followed me out the door. What was her problem? Didn't she understand that I wanted to be left alone?
"Finnick. Listen to me." Katniss grabbed me by the shoulders, and spun me around so we were nose to nose. This made me extremely uncomfortable.
"Finnick, when I said I meant it I wasn't lying. But I wasn't talking about you." Katniss said softly. "You definitely stand a chance."
It dawned on me that I had been stupid. Katniss didn't hate me. She didn't love me either. I was just behaving like the public would be expected to. I had been a fool.
Hi! I'm sorry about the bad quality on the first part of this story! I promise it will get better, though, because I've been writing this on a different document, and I made this part a while ago. Also, I really suck at third person.
