  Voilet POV:

I opened my eyes and blinked twice to welcome the uninvited streak of light that crept in to my room, finagling the thick blanket of curtains.

“Uggghhhh…” I moaned to my pillow which always smelt like me. A buzzing sound, like a feral bee, heralded my attention towards it. I saw caller’s ID which clearly announced it was Madeline.

“Hello…” I said my voice groggy easily giving away the fact that I just woke up.

“OMG!!! TV, NOW!” Madeline screamed and I immediately jumped out of bed.

Turning on the TV I realized the commotion Alistair’s fake declaration about me being his fiancée has caused. I literally shrieked when I saw media and paparazzi were right outside my building as they constantly questioned everyone who exited the apartment building.

“What the…..” I whispered as I rushed to the window and quietly crept a look by gently pulling the curtains. I saw so many vans and news reporters gathered around the entrance, not entering the apartment building.

I jumped as I heard a hard knock on my door.

“Who’s there?” I asked, suddenly my throat going dry.

“OPEN!” I heard Izzy’s voice and immediately opened the door.

“OH MY GOD! It is a circus out there!” Izzy said as she entered and immediately closed the door.

“OHHH! What should I do?” I asked, my voice dripping of fear. I sat on the couch, admitting the reality; I was caught up in some twisted story which Alistair so fecklessly told in public.

“I don’t know…” Izzy said as she joined me on the couch. She had two coffees in her hand and I took one generously.

I turned on the wi-fi and a gazillion messages flooded my face book. My mobile buzzed for more than five minutes, desperately trying to catch up with all the notifications.

There were messages from all sorts of people, my old high school mates to even celebrities. I almost choked on my coffee as I saw my facebook pictures on some gossip magazines. OMIGOD! So embarrassing! I big my lower lip as in one picture I was in my pajama shorts, brushing my teeth. I remember Izzy tagged me in this one last year.  How much did they dig in?? I panicked as I read the article announcing “Alistair’s princess: A bit too ORDINARY”

“OH MY GOD!” I heard Izzy as she flipped on the news channel and saw paparazzi around my bakery, questioning one of the regular customers. As per routine, Madeline opened up the bakery around seven. I mostly joined her by nine.  It was ten by now indicating I overslept.

“So how long have you been visiting this bakery?” they asked and the customer smiled.

“Two years now! They have the best breakfast!” she said and excitedly waved in the camera.

It made me laugh despite of all the tension.

“Should I call the cops?” I asked Izzy who told me that I cannot as the media is not inside my building or the bakery; they are not harassing me in anyway. I wanted to complain about the pictures but I realized half of them were on public, usually for advertisement of my bakery.

“My life will never be the same” I groaned but tears fought their way in to my eyes. “Alistair was right; it is too late to back out…”

“Don’t worry about the paparazzi and all, they will soon find another hot gossip…” Izzy said in her comforting voice.

I heard Izzy’s phone ringing and she answered, her face showed complete annoyance as she looked at the caller’s ID.

“You have a nerve to call me ASHLEY!” I heard Izzy yell and I thought of her crying voice last night.

“Izzy give me the phone…” I said as I wanted to ask Ashley that how could she so easily sell me out. Izzy nodded and handed over me the phone and I found my most authoritative voice and asked “ What do you want??”

“Violet… Please forgive me… I know you deserve more explanation for why I did something this horrible to you…see the thing is, when I said I owed him big, I meant, two years ago my mom was diagnosed with cancer. She did not have insurance so I had to work really hard to pay her medical expenses. I was crying after I came to know I was getting kicked out of this catering group. Alistair, who was visiting the catering office saw me crying and asked for the reason. I told him the truth and he helped me out ever since then and just look at me now! I have my own catering company which is getting orders from biggest firms of the world. He paid for my mother’s expenses and…he is genuine…he doesn’t flaunts around how much he has helped me. I know he might sound like a bad person initially… but he is not…trust me? I am sorry I should have asked you before getting you in this mess but… I just did not have nerve to ask you for such a huge favor. I know I was being a complete flibbertigibbet when I mentioned you in front of Alistair but just try being in my shoes. I have a boyfriend but I just cannot say no to Alistair when he needs me as he never said no to me when I needed him. Please just forgive me…” Ashley said, her voice submerged in deep pools of desperation.

After knowing this whole thing I realized, Alistair is not as bad of a person as I might have assumed because now I knew the whole truth. He did seem arrogant when he asked me but it was only a single meeting.

“Okay…Ashley I forgive you…but I need time to decide…” I said, finally exhaling and feeling burden lift off my chest as I forgave Ashley.

“Thanks…” I heard Ashley say and we both hung up the phone. Before I could even return the cell phone to Izzy, I heard roars of girls screaming and could feel sudden commotion suddenly building outside. What now!? I thought, more worried than annoyed.
