Rose
"Well hello Rose!" Mom says, slamming the front door and walking over to the kitchen and sets her purse down. "Oh hey Mom, you're home early." I try not to sound too suspicious or anything. My eyes wander around the house looking for any leftover signs of wolf.
"Well, your aunt decided to wait until tomorrow to find a wedding dress because the place we went to didn't have the best wedding dress." Mom is sorting through her purse, looking for her cell phone.
"What does she want? Some kind of $1000 wedding dress?" I say, glancing over at the open window. "She tried on a $1000 dress. It wasn't "good enough". Honestly, that dress was gorgeous. But I guess she wants to have something at like, $10,000."
My aunt has more money than she needs. She's rich, beautiful, but she can be a bit over the top with the clothes she buys. Usually when I am with her, she gives me whatever money is left in her pocket after we are done shopping. I usually end up with $500 in the end.
My mom sighs, and goes to the fridge and gets out some lettace, tomatoes and carrots. "I'm gonna make a salad. You want some?"
"Uhm." My eyes look outside again, "Actually, I'm gonna go outside again. You know, to enjoy some of this nice weather."
"Alright then. More for me." She starts cutting tomatoes. "Just be back before dinner."
I slip on my shoes and run outside. I walk behind the shed, and find Fever sitting there.
"Hi again." Her ears are perked up, she's watching the leaves and birds in the distance.
"Hi. You wanna go for a walk on the trail? Away from the house? My Mom could walk over here any minute." She thinks for a minute. She looks up at me and gets up.
"I guess." Fever says, stretching her legs.
"Alright, lets go." I walk into the woods with Fever walking at my heels.
We walk for about a half hour until we reach an empty field. The grass was long, the birds flew around, the wind blew and made the grass sway, and tickle legs. I walk over to the tree I always go to when I come here. A tire swing hung from the tree branch. I sit in the tire, Fever sits down near the swing and looks around.
"Wow, this place is amazing."
"Yeah, I know. I've been coming here since I was 8."
Which is true. I discovered this place when I was 8. I would come here everyday after my dad left us. This is place where I came to get away from troubles in my life and think about everything. Someone else probably found it before me though, because the tire swing was always there.
The silence was quite awkward. "So, you wanna tell me about this werewolf stuff?" I spit out. Fever jumps at this because she's lost in the scenery. "If I tell you, you have to make sure you don't tell anyone else."
"I promise I won't."
"Okay, well, listen closely since this story is long and I don't want to have to explain it twice."
I make myself comfortable.
Fever
January 13, 2009.
His hand in mine, my hand in his. Cold air and snow on the ground.
I looked into his eyes, as he stared in mine. His brown eyes were promising. He gave a half smiled and softly kissed me. I smile and hug him.
One year and four months ago, he asked me if I wanted to date him. We were best friends since 1st grade. He knew me better than I knew myself. His name was Connor Henderson. The person I loved with all my life. He loved me for my personality (and my "Beauty"). He loved me for me. Athena Payne.
